Wyoming State College

So you want two subpar institutions instead of one good to great one? For a population of half a million people?
And a DECREASING population for student enrollment candidates as all estimates predict graduating high school seniors to continue to decline in the state of Wyoming for the foreseeable future.

This is not off topic IMO. This issue goes directly to the ability of the State of Wyoming to sponsor a quality FBS level football team.

As ‘Wyoming State’ moves forward, it will increasingly compete with the University for both students and donor dollars. It is inevitable and is already occurring.
I think this is getting far more attention than it deserves. It's just a community college with a new name.

If there ever was going to be a Wyoming State, Casper or Sheridan made a hell of a lot more sense.

I suspect that there is no stopping this outside the legislature getting involved. The LCCC President doesn’t announce this without knowing full well how its Board is going to vote.
I actually think Lander (which has a four year college -- Wyoming Catholic College) makes the most sense because of its unique access to outdoor activities. Also, Alta, Wyoming would have the same type of uniqueness (and really cater to the tourism industry). I know there are not any community colleges in these towns, but there is so much outdoor recreation now in the western part of the state and college kids want that. Wyoming would need to do something jointly with Idaho on the Alta, Wyoming idea.

Hmmm. Forum title is "Cowboy & MWC Football". This shit, ain't that.

Why would 'just a community college' need a new encompassing name such as 'Wyoming State.' If that is really the long term intent to stay as she same ole 'community college' does 'Cheyenne College' or 'Cheyenne Community College' not make more logical sense?

Lander would be an amazing setting for a University (Laramie without the wind). But lack of existing infrastructure/cost rules that out absent some unexpected major population boom in Wyoming.

Southeast Wyoming College, Capitol City College or High Plains College would have been much better choices IMO.

How about Shithole College?

My family & I have had numerous bad experiences with Cheyenne. There's a family trueism..."nothing good EVER comes outta Cheyenne."

Maybe because outside of Wyoming few people know where Laramie County is.

So because they don’t know where Laramie County is then Wyoming State becomes the obvious choice?

I am not following the logic. Presumably, if a name change to Cheyenne College is not acceptable because people don’t know where Cheyenne is, then all community colleges in the state should just be Wyoming State.

I would agree except they are usurping the name "Wyoming State". I seriously doubt this has anything to do with unfamiliarity with Laramie County.

Wyoming State needs to be by the state legislature. There are long term ramifications on this. If I was the president of the colleges in Sheridan, Riverton, Powell, Gillette, and Casper I would be calling an emergency trustees meeting and prempting them on the renaming.

A name besides Wyoming State I agree with you.
