On Saturday, Wyoming redshirt senior quarterback Cameron Coffman took his first meaningful snaps since Nov. 24, 2012, his season finale as a sophomore at Indiana.

Start the next guy. Wait till he's healthy and fully able to practice leading up to the game. Why would Coffman be the type of qb you play while hobbled? I guess if you were looking for an excuse you could use the "qb wasn't fully healthy all year". But that's a joe Glenn type thing. Time to see what Allen has.

With a serviceable backup, it makes sense to prepare with Allen unless Coffman can be 100% in practice. We didn't have that luxury before and Smith had to hobble through practice since he was our only option Saturday. But with this team, I think our offense will play better with a healthy Allen having a whole week of practice as opposed to maybe a day of practice with a hobbling Coffman.

Thanks for posting this...this one is a tough one for me. On one hand I want to see CC play again, as I was not overly impressed with him a week ago, I don't think he (like the team) played his best game, and I'd like to see him go after it again against EMU.

On the other hand, I've been smitten with Josh Allen since seeing him at the spring game, I love his upside, he's more of an outspoken sort of leader at the QB position, more inspirational, and I think he possesses the ability to be the best Pokes quarterback that I've seen since I became a fan back in 02'.

Agreed. Part of me says Coffman's knee affected his performance on Saturday. On one hand, that means he should still play if healthy. On the other hand, how much will going against EMU tell us?

I too want to see what Allen has to offer. And if there's a week the rest of the way we can get away with letting Coffman heal, Saturday is probably it.
