Wyoming @ Ohio State

- Really good gameplan from Shyatt. On offense, a concerted effort to push the ball off of defensive rebounds and try to get points on the primary/secondary break, because (as we demonstrated in the second half) OSU is really hard to score on once they get packed in on D. On defense, we recognized early on that we couldn't keep going under ball screens in the man-to-man and switched to the the zone. I wish we could have done a little more hedging with our big men on those pick-and-rolls since we have good athletes there but that puts our meager corps of bigs at risk of cheap fouls so I understand why we weren't more aggressive in that way.

- Larry Nance's coming out party. He was all man in this one and really rose to the occasion in a big game, on the road, lots of friends/family in attendance. He really put the team on his back with his all-court game and I can't wait to see what he does in conference play.

- Overall it's hard to say that the refs did a bad job but I really feel like the fourth foul on Nance was incredibly cheap. That changed the game since we had to take him out for that long stretch in the middle of the second half and it hurt bad. I thought the foul was on Hankerson anyways. Of course, this exposed our already-glaring weakness in the frontcourt and that's going to be our Achilles heel all year, but damn I thought that was a weak ass call.

- I would say that the first half demonstrated how improved we are on offense. We really have several guys on the perimeter who can create off the dribble and dish or finish which we were missing last year. OSU ramped up their defensive focus in the second half (and they are truly one of the best handful of teams in the nation defensively) and created major problems for us so I have to say this is still going to be a trouble area for us in the tougher conference matchups but less so than last year. The ball movement is much improved as well and that helped us get some looks. When it comes down to it I think we are still going to have trouble scoring in crunch time against the SDSUs and UNMs of the conference but it won't be as bad as last year.

Well, Utah State is receiving votes for the Top 25.
It's not just us that thinks they are legit.
We were receiving votes and made an appearance in the top 25 just last year. It is going to take more than 4 games for me, and this is just me, to pick a pecking order.

Utah State plays tonight on the road against Weber State. Not an easy game by any means. Should learn a little bit more about them tonight.
