Wyoming Offensive Starters

Go Weber!

New member
Hey Poke Fans,

Looking forward to the game Saturday. Like two years ago, I'll be making the five hour drive over to the game. Any suggestions for pregame (tailgating) and/or post game (celebration) activities? :D

Anyway, I was looking at the Wyo depth chart and put together some thoughts about the Cowboy starting offense. Would you add anything else or am I off base on anything? If I get time before the game I'd like to also take a closer look at the defense and special teams starters.

"Of the 12 starters listed on the depth chart, 5 were starters during 2010 (3 linemen, 1 RB, and 1 WR). The offensive line, lead by Nick Carlson, is experienced and should be the strength of the offense. The RBs, lead by Alvester Alexander, could be quite productive running behind such an experienced line. But the other two RBs that will share the carries are new to the position. How will they perform in their first real games running the ball? But the biggest question mark going into the opener will be the passing game. True freshman QB Brett Smith is making his first collegiate start, and will have a relatively inexperienced receiving corps to throw to. Starting WR Chris McNeill returns after starting during 2010 and was 3rd on the team in receiving. Robert Herron is talented but young and split time during 2010 between WR and RB."

"I'm expecting Wyoming to be run heavy in the opener. They have some talent at running back, especially in Alexander, and they are deep at that position. And they won't want to give QB Smith more than he can handle in his first start."

1. Tailgate Park. Family-friendly oriented with some places selling alcohol. Free to come in unless you have a white "Y" in a blue oval. Than it's $100 for children and $500 for adults.
2. There's fireworks scheduled for after the game, so no rushing the field (again).
3. About right, and defense should be solid, with the secondary questionable.
4. Special teams is looking pretty good. Great punter and 2 freshmen Ks, one handling handling FGs/kickoffs and the other PATs.

Glad to hear you're coming out! I hope you enjoy yourself, but don't let the ass whooping on the field ruin your day :D

As far as pregame activities, the city is doing something new this season. This is from yesterday's Steamboat Sound:
Downtown Kickoff Set for Saturday. . .
A lot of Laramie folks have worked very hard to make the first annual Downtown Kickoff a success. The event is set for Saturday between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., on Grand Avenue between First and Second Streets. The Laramie Main Street project is sponsoring the event as a welcome to all Wyoming fans coming for the Weber State game.

There will be food, music (bands from the Snowy Range Music Festival), tons of prizes to be raffled and a huge UW athletics presence. The Voice of the Cowboys Dave Walsh will be the emcee, and Wyoming coaches, student-athletes, the cheer squad, the UW band and Pistol Pete himself will be there.

Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20 dollars. Drawings for the raffle will take place at 2:30 p.m. on the corner of Second and Grand. Purchasers need not be present to win. Laramie Main Street will announce the winners at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

It should be quite an event, and a great start to the opening of the Cowboy football season.
Postgame fireworks were amazing last year. Make sure you stick around to watch!

i was just a tad let down by the fireworks, only because they were so far away from the stadium and since we were on the east sid ewe had to climb up to the top of the section 20 stands by the wildcatters to see 'em

would be real nice if they could figure out a method to shoot them off in the stadium is all

I watched them from the brown lot after the game, so I was a lot closer. I was pretty impressed myself.

I've never liked fireworks except on TV. Used to be a fear, now it is just an extreme dislike. So I probably won't be sticking around for them.

Just like my dog. (I kid!)

 On his coaches show last night Coach Mac was talking about Wyoming's hate of all things BYU. No worries here, I'll be wearing purple. Thanks for the info.

Wyoming and fireworks just go together. I had a hell of a show in my cul-de-sac this 4th thanks to TNT in Evanston. I'll stick around for sure.

I loved fireworks as a kid, now I think it's just a waste of time, money, and a good way to put nasty chemicals into the soil. You can do so much cooler things with laser anyway, but everybody's taste is different, so whatever :)

i'm a huge fireworks fan

i proposed to my wife under fourth of july fireworks and ever since then we have gone to some sort of vacation destination over the fourth to see the best shows we can
