Wyoming NFL Draft Facts

I'd be curious what the most Pokes taken in one draft is? I remember in 1996, we had Scifers (sp?), Lee and Harris all taken in the same draft. Coincidentally, that was the also a year in which Wyoming played in the conference championship game.

I bring this up because....there is a possibility we get 4 Pokes drafted this year.

I am predicting 3 players are taken: Chase Roullier (3rd round), Brian Hill (4th Round), Jacob Hollister (6th round surprise)...Tanner Gentry immediately signed after the draft.

According to wikipedia 5 in 68. 4 in 70 and 67, and 3 in 97, 89, 73, and 61

Interesting. Yes it was 97 when those players were drafted from the 96 season (I had that mixed up). Sounds like if we get 4 players drafted it would be a record under the current 7 round format of the draft.

Yeah but there was also significantly less teams before the merger. Not sure what the total numbers would come out to

In the 1968 Draft, 5 Wyoming players were selected. There were 462 total players drafted for an average of 1 UW guy for every 92.4 picks. In '97, 3 Wyo guys out of 240 for 1 UW for every 80 picks, making the '97 draft, Wyoming's "most successful" draft.

This year there are 253 picks overall, Wyoming would need to have 4 players drafted to surpass the 1997 draft.

Thanks, good to know

Christensen had a pretty decent last class. I think Roullier will get drafted and Gentry has a a shot. May, Hollister, Maulhaurtd, and Wacha will get free agent contracts in some form or another.

Christiansen could occasionally recruit some good players. Got to give him credit

Recruiting was never his issue. Retaining talent and player development were not his strong points especially on the defensive side of the ball

Josh probably would have gone top 12 this draft from what I've seen

No Mountain West players taken in the first three rounds.
I knew the league was weak this year but zero-105 drafted ???
I see Mcnichols from Boise State is next best available RB so MW gets on the board early in the 4th.
Chase and Brian still solid but all others cant be confident with this trend.

Packers are up first in Round 4 and they definitely have a need for a RB. Could be a nice spot for B. Hill. He can start off sharing snaps with Ty Montgomery, a WR turned RB, that will enable him to be a bit more of a between the tackles runner. Plus having Aaron Rodgers next to you will keep you from almost ever seeing 7+ in the box...not a bad gig.
