The difference is, is that UNR's o-line actually does what an o-line should.

And that help's Nevada's shitty defense how? Your post points to nothing and makes absolutely zero sense.

I didn't say Wyoming would shut Nevada down. I said that Wyoming could very well outscore Nevada. While this may be the best offense Wyoming has faced to date, it is without question the best offense Nevada has faced all year...by a long margin.
J-rod beat me to it, Wyoming's o-line has been about non-existent. All they do for the most part is slow down the d-line a little. If it weren't for Brett's mobility, quick release, and toughness, we would have been destroyed in just about every game thus far. No doubts that Smith is easily one of the best QBs there is, but without decent protection up front, we MAY hit 4 wins this season, and Smith would not be blamed one bit for it. Yes, we have a host of pretty damn good recievers, and Smith is a hell of a thrower, but the way the o-line is, we'd have to hope that whatever defense we play against slips on the turf on every down just to give him the same amount of time that an average o-line would give their QB.

Before we all dog Nevada's defense too much, remember they did contain the California passing attack, which is led by the offensive genius that is Markus Arroyo.

Seriously though, I will copy someone from a couple weeks ago who predicted the winner of the Wyo/Idaho game would be whoever has the ball last. I don't think we can stop them and I hope that they can't stop us. Final score, 52-49. Winner, whoever has the ball last. If I had the balls to bet this game, I'd take Wyoming and all those points.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not but Cal has one of the worst QB's in the country. Maynard is terrible.

Yeah, I'm just kidding. After watching Arroyo's total lack of ability running the Pokes offense, somehow he landed a job at Cal. Last year he was QB coach. This year he's been promoted to QB coach/Pass Game Coordinator, where he's got them down to the 80th ranked passing attack in the country. He'll probably have them settled into his normal 100's by year's end.

I agree our o-line has not given our QB decent protection, but without a decent running game, the opposing defense just T's off and blitzes on just about every down. With my limited amount of knowledge, it seems like our OC or HC should recognize this and teach our RBs how to block at least a couple of these blitzers. They aren't even making a feeble attempt at slowing them down. I put a lot of this problem on the coaching.

Absolutely, if we can't or won't run and these guys can't or won't block, we may as well drop a couple back up O-linemen back there to pancake their blitzing LBs or secondary. That might give our QB and receivers another second or two for the play to develop. Not to mention having someone closer to 300 lbs hitting them rather than a sub 200 lb RB, might reduce the amount of blitzes we see. It might even help us on short yardage situations, ala' The Fridge Perry!
