Wyoming "more open than ever" to beer sales

marcuswyo said:
Sad that a group that is in the minority ( Mormons in this case) can impact/block the desires of the majority. Never understood the objection to beer at games. I could always have a beer between classes in the union and there was no stigma about getting shit faced before a football game and than walking to the library.

It was the stupidest policy in the history of Wyoming. It never made any sense. I don't drink anymore(stopped 5 years ago). I've taken 100 of gallons of alcohol into the War over the years. In boots, binocs, people's purses, and my crotch on numerous occasions. A brain dead idiot could get booz in the War.

It never stopped people from drinking. All it did was keep the university from making any money off of it. It did keep the Momo's happy though.

This needs to happen. It would be great for the atmosphere of games and the budget as well.

UMMMM DUH, it's about time, and if it justifies the revenue at sporting events, so be it, the cops won't like it as they are quite the Beer/Alcohol Nazis the way it is, but if it's controlled I'm all for it. Most of us are responsible adults and can handle our stuff. It's the best thing I've heard in quite some time, afterall it is 2016
Beer and football, nothing like it!!!!!

Is anyone else nervous about the state match being put in jeopardy? It just seems like the opponents to it will begin to argue that with new revenue streams coming in, there's no need for state dollars to continue to go to UW athletics. They might even increase their numbers depending on how the anti-alcohol crowd reacts...

I thought about that - yes. My concern though, stems from my opinions & the actual workings of our inept athletic department, not being able to do it right (and to report it properly). If they small time this, it will be a major mistake.

Note to the Wyoming AD department:

Budweiser, Coors, et al, need to be on your bat-phone, on a daily basis. Have some vision with this, make it great - make it huge, and FTLOG don't half ass it like damn near everything else the last 10 years coming out of your office!

We have to understand we are in an league/conference where we don't compete for National Championships and we really only compete(when/if) for League Championships and a decent bowl game once in awhile.

I forsee in the near future 10 years or so, that we'll break free from the Power 5 and "finally" be able to compete for something that is more obtainable for our lesser program. I hate to see it as I love being a D1 school but the time is running out for us to be amongst the big boys, sad but true. WE just can't compete against TV $ and the bigger conferences. Just how I feel, sorry if it rubs people the wrong way!

They're going to argue it anyway. It's a moot and stupid point. A state grant just went to helping a new brewery get built. It was originally going towards plans for a new distillery, but that fell through to the state funds went to the brewery.

We can't worry about the potential arguments if there's no need to argue it to make it happen, we just need to anticipate and overcome the arguments well before the time comes where they're necessary.

As for the modern day temperance movement, they can pack their BYU* gear and move to f'kin' Provostan as far as I'm concerned.

I suggest you start shopping for Grizz/ Jackrabbit. and Bison gear. Clearly more your speed...

You and SDPokeFan can share a regional FCS wardrobe and go (mini) bowling together while listening to South Dakota play on the arcade boom box...

Part of the AA phase 2 remodel includes lots of new concessions. Concessions that could easily be modified to include taps.

And stuff like this

Stuff like that is already happening. There are two big kitchens going in the remodel.

For the AA or the War?

AA. There will be lots of new choices for concessions after Phase 2.

Especially when it's the whiny, "...we just can't..."
Patton would've put his boot right up their azz...

Hey man, I'm not liking it either but don't live in this dream world that we can be a factor for big things here, that's all....reality sucks, but it's the world we live in. WE aren't Boise State....maybe if we got rid of Burman and his ways, then maybe we'll be back to where we need to be, I'll never be able to argue points with some people, but that's ok, but NEVER question my fandom of the Brown and Gold, you'll lose hands down. I have dreams for UW just don't think i'll see it ever again, glad I went to school there during the Roach Tiller years when things we fun and we truly were a factor. PS: when the hell did I say drop down, I said what I think is on the horizon, D1 just has a new meaning this day and age, that's all

http://www.scout.com/college/washington-state/story/1696835-breaking-wsu-expand-beer-sales-martin

Washington State to start selling at Martin Stadium. Expecting $1 million in revenue.

This day and age that's 600k more than they have had, but yes hallucinating isn't that what enough beers do to people. LOL, but maybe a bit more with advertising as well, time will tell

Yeah, shouldn't have said hallucinatory. Maybe drunkenly optimistic?

My only point was they may net $300-350K-ish.

And it wasn't a comment about what we should do. I'm fine with selling beer at the games, though it doesn't affect me personally, since I've never had any problem at any sporting event getting in any drink I wanted to enjoy. We'd probably net $250K-ish and money is always good...not to mention it might cheer folks up, give them something new to look forward to, make things more fun, bring in some new fans.

Altitude's needs to expand their brewing capacity and get a foot in the door. Maybe a collaboration between the Library and Altitude's. (Does the Library still brew? Haven't been back in quite a while....)

What would be cool is our own beer garden/bar in the end zone featuring beer brewed in Wyoming. There's some very good beer coming out of a lot of Wyoming towns. The breweries in Wyoming having been making a name for themselves of late.

I'm partial, but I love One Eyed Buffalo in Thermopolis.. really like Ten Sleep Brewing, might be the coolest brewery aesthetically that I've been into. Hopefully I can hit 'em both up in a couple weeks.

Altitude lost their main brewer a while ago - so the jury is out (although last time I was there it was great). The Library is a shit show, literally, drink their beer if you are constipated. There is another brewer in town though that has a superior product - Coal Creek Brewery (located by their coffee place). Best craft beer in Laramie - maybe they should work a deal out!

I'm still partial to Alaskan Amber, oh wait this is Wyoming, I really haven't found a (to me) good local brew in this state since Medicine Bow Brewery in Cheyenne was where Sanfords is now, maybe someday we'll find me one I can't live without in WYO....back to Alaska, hit y'all up when I get back around Sept. 6
