Are you sure? I remember the AFA last year blank a bad Colgate 38-13, to start the year, then it was all down hill for them. Colgate was not a good FCS school, Nicholls St. Is also not a good FCS school. Montana is a dynasty in FCS, I think this weeks scores are not a good indication of how each team is. Every year for the past five years at least AFA blows out a mediocre FCS school. And player wise, other than that Jacobi Owens, wh really stands out?

Yeah, going into the game, Montana was #5 ranked FCS school.

I was helping some friends move today in Fort Collins. From what I read here and what I caught on the radio, seems like the defense was disciplined, the offense needs a QB and some more time learning their schemes, special teams were adequate, and the team has bought into Bohl's philosophy.
I am one happy Pokes fan. I still expect a rough season with ups and downs, but this is one to build on!
I'm also glad the sheep beat the buffs. It will be sweeter taking that Bronze Boot back this year!

A few very easy completions were thrown too low so the receivers couldn't get yards after the catch, and then there's obviously the turnovers, both due to poor decision-making, the exact thing he was the quarterback who wasn't supposed to have a problem with.
This game was about zero "fundamental football" OR fireworks from our quarterback. I like Kirkegaard as a person, he's got character and he's shown incredible loyalty to the team, but if this wasn't a hiccup, he shouldn't be the starter.

If Kirkegaard is the best QB on the roster, than Bohl and staff did the rest of the team a real disservice by not going out and getting a functioning FCS level QB in the offseason (FBS would have been better, but FCS level should have been possible, Kirkegaard is neither).
I don't like to be so negative towards one individual, especially one who appears to be a great teammate, etc., but I can't remember seeing worse QB play and that includes Doss, Stutzriem, Crum, etc.
Especially now that there is tape out there, Kirkegaard is going to eaten alive. I don't mind the fact that we may struggle to move the ball through the air, but he is a walking turnover.
I thought the defense looked significantly better and you see some immediate impact from the coaching change there. Montana doesn't have a bad offense and the Pokes challenged them throughout today. They made a tremendous play on that first TD, I thought their WR or whatever threw a better ball than either QB did all day and a tough catch in traffic in the end zone on the other end. Just have to tip your hat to them. Otherwise, the Pokes bottled them up for 3+ quarters. Montana's first 10 possessions included 8 punts and a turnover on downs in addition to that TD.
Special teams had a positive impact, which has rarely been the case in recent years. The blocked punt was a great play that Kirkegaard proceeded to waste.
The OL is not ready and it will take several recruiting classes and maturation to get to the point we need to be there, but I expected that coming in.
I would say the two negatives were that QB play was even worse than my very low expectations and the WR's didn't appear to be getting much separation against FCS DB's.
No one is mentioning it but Special Teams play was the BEST I have seen in years. If we can win special teams and defense we will always be in the game.

There is a reason that Bohl had 7 different QBs on the roster for camp. He knew the situation. That said, I think Colby will get a chance to improve, before Bohl makes any moves. Bohl is believer in character, and in players who respond to adversity. Colby has shown maturity in practice this year, but it needs to translate into game time performance. Also, Bohl will not put in a new QB for Oregon and Michigan St. - he knows that wouldn't put a new QB in any kind of position to be successful.
