Wyoming high school Football scores

I actually ran the Gillette youth football program from 2013-2023. We were taking 2 teams to the all star stuff at first but others wanted to change that up for reasons you can probably figure out lol. My kids are young so I just coach now but they are still doing a good job with it. Having 2 high schools in Gillette has been a good thing.
Right on man. Gillette pimp slapped Casper this year in the Laramie tournament. Amazing little team. I will be using some plays I liked from them including that “beast” formation variation.

I coached a team this year and we won our four team league. I had scrawny 5th graders and we beat two teams that should have worked us , but we won because I and my assistant coaches are not retarded. I hurt the other caches’ feelings by winning so they excluded me from the all star team. Joke was on them because they were so far in over their heads it’s not funny. Next year I should be the HC for the all star team so hopefully we will suck less.

Sounds like you have some clout; you should really push for Gillette and Casper to field two teams. It gets borderline dangerous for a team like Laramie, honestly. There was a team last year that forfeited (I think it was Torrington) against either Gillette or Casper last year at halftime because they maimed so many of their players

Not to change the subject but Star Valley football reminds me of the Kansas City Chiefs. I think they are in their sixth (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) straight state championship game!!!!! Can anybody in 3A stop them?

That’s cool man. Good work on that. There’s few things I like more than coaching kids up in football. Keep after it! I got pretty burned out on the all star deal and not a big fan of the headaches it brings. When we brought 2 teams it pretty much covered most of the kids interested and more kids got to play in the war. Some people weren’t a fan of that because we didn’t have all the best players on one team. I was thinking more long term development and supplying 2 high schools with kids that were in love with football.

We would have 750 to 800 kids in the league on average, 1st-6th grade. I’d ref Tuesday and Thursday nights and then all day on Saturdays plus whatever else was going on. I didn’t want to get divorced, so turned the all star deal over to other guys to run after a few long seasons lol. I don’t have any say over it anymore. I know what you mean though and have witnessed plenty of it.

According to wyopreps this is their 4th straight trip to the title game. They have a phenomenal program over there. I think they would compete well in 4A a lot of years. Hopefully Cody can give them a challenge Friday!

No one can stop them. I’m tired of them and Sheridan

Same here.

Here in Oklahoma, in 6A only three schools have won the state championship starting in 1996. Tulsa Union, Jenks (suburb of Tulsa), and Owasso which is near Tulsa. It got to the point where the OSSAA had to divide 6A into two separate Divisions of two districts each so that somebody else could win a state title at the 6A level. Sadly, all three schools I just listed are STILL winning the 6A Division I state title every year!!!!

Welp, just like the Chiefs, Star Valley wins another State title. They beat Cody tonight, 26-21. Can ANYBODY beat the Braves????
Good effort by Cody in both games against Star Valley. They came up just short both times. I'm looking forward to the 4A matchup tomorrow night. I'll be in attendance to hopefully see the Camels pull of the upset. I'm going to stick around for the Pokes game after!

Out East, a lot of states adjust classification for high school sports based on competitive balance rather than strictly enrollment. A lot of people complain that its a moving target, IE you have a talented class of kids that win a lot, the school gets moved up just as those kids graduate, and then the next class can't compete at the same level. So it's not perfect.

At this point I think Wyoming has to try something different to make HS sports more competitive. Splitting Gillette was good, but the Cheyenne South situation is embarrassing and a huge shame for those kids. Obviously there is nowhere for Sheridan to go. Move Star Valley and possibly Cody up.

The other thing you have to consider is whether football should have its own classifications (kind of already does with 1A 6-man vs 9-man). Maybe a 5A with six schools and then rebalance from there? It is pretty interesting that football seems to be so wildly unbalanced but other sports not as much.

Poor South needs to be moved down. I don't know that it helps get wins, but they will at least have a better chance. Ultimately, classifications should be based on competitiveness - at least in part.

As for Sheridan, you have to tip your hat to them. They have a machine that starts with kids learning their program from pee-wees on up. I'm sick of them winning - but you can't fault them. The challenge is on the other schools to build similar structures - which is a bit tougher in places like Cheyenne considering shifting triad maps and (mostly) "closed" boundaries, but it is what it is.

The parents of South's football players and school administration had a vote this summer on dropping down to a 3A varsity schedule. They overwhelmingly voted to stay in 5A, but not to field a varsity team this season. I don't know what the answer is to getting South to a place where they're actually competing, but it's going to have to be something different than anything they've tried before.
