If you look at the schedule it shows they had a jamboree on Friday vs. Lander and Glenrock. Not a real game.

It’s very predictable. Every year the same teams do the same thing
Jake Chick did a good job with them this year I thought. They were a lot more competitive. Maybe he’ll turn it around.

Hopefully! Lost 13-17 on the road at #2 CC. This is the first time we have been competitive with a top team in 20 years. In 2005 lost to eventual champ Cheyenne central in OT and on the last possession in the playoffs.

I liked what I saw from them in the 2 games they played the Camels. I remember the days when Laramie was dominant under Deti. They’ve had a few fairly talented youth teams that we’ve played in the last 10-12 years but seems like that hasn’t materialized as they’ve moved up.
I’m very familiar with the situation given the fact that my nephew is the qb for Campbell County. I had another nephew quit right before the south game. I’ve heard conflicting accounts as to whether or not there was a physical element. I don’t really think there was. A Parent of a player chewed coach’s ass about playing time and coach then took out on the player in the locker room verbally only I believe.Did anyone read about the Campbell County coach getting fired? I don’t agree with coach telling the kid to quit, etc, but I saw much worse than that as a football player lol. Termination seemed a bit excessive IMO. The kids are a resilient group though. Rallied together to get a 2nd shot at Sheridan.

Ya. Football is in a terrible condition in Laramie. A lot of the top athletes just don’t play here. They “concentrate on baseball” because they are pussies. Not sure why , but mental midgets and pussies gravitate towards travel baseball in Laramie.
I am super jealous of other towns’ youth football programs. In the “all star” season, my son is in 5th grade and we got SMOKED by every other teams we played. My son did well individually, was the lightest kid and played cornerback, but led the team in tackles.
Dude casper and Gillette youth football are something else. When you have that many players to choose from and STILL only field one team, geezus it turns out competitive. Shame those towns don’t field 2-3 teams and give more kids opportunities

That’s what I gather. I’d have told the kid the same thing probably, and probably gotten fired.
What is weird to me is the interaction was recorded. Was the kid baiting the coach into this? Seems like it to me. As a coach you can’t take that bait
The man seems like a great coach. If I were Cheyenne south I’d hire him in a heartbeat
I actually ran the Gillette youth football program from 2013-2023. We were taking 2 teams to the all star stuff at first but others wanted to change that up for reasons you can probably figure out lol. My kids are young so I just coach now but they are still doing a good job with it. Having 2 high schools in Gillette has been a good thing.
I think it was just another kid in the locker room that whipped out his phone and started recording as it happened. Coach and a bunch of his supporters were in front of the school board last night. They’re circulating a petition to reinstate him but I doubt with any success. He did a nice job at Campbell county but his timing was also pretty good with the group of kids he inherited.
