Wyoming gets Missouri State for 2031 & 2035

We had a home game scheduled with UNT. CSU had a road game with Indiana. That sure looks like we had the leverage to dictate the negotiations for playing the Border War in 2026. Instead Burman rolls over, plays dead, and gives CSU everything they asked for. We end up giving away a home game against a respectable opponent to go play in Fort Collins. Somebody tell me where we won this negotiation? We got exactly what we always get from Burman, a good poke right up the old arse.
100%

Unfortunately most of our fanbase just see ‘border war’ and line up to demand a raise for the AD despite the absolutely nonsensical deal that was struck.

So CSU now escapes its for sure road beating and gets 7 home games all at the expense of the school they stabbed in the back and sued.

There would be no issue if the game was in Laramie. How is this not a ‘if my aunt had balls’ hypothetical?
I don't know. I've seen several people on this board complain that we are playing CSU at all. I don't think for those people that having the game in Laramie would make them feel any better. They seem to prefer playing an up and coming UNT team instead of CSU, regardless of where the game is being played.

Even you have mentioned several times how you don't like the game at least in part because it switches out an almost for sure loss at Indiana with a winnable game against Wyoming. So it sounded to me like simply having the game scheduled in Laramie instead of Fort Collins was not an obvious solution for everyone.

I’ve mentioned repeatedly that the deal is completely nonsensical because Wyoming is giving up a September home game against a solid opponent in exchange for an away game in Fort Collins.

The rest of the facts (ie CSU avoiding a for sure ass kicking) just further demonstrate how our athletic department got bent over in the negotiation. So we are essentially providing a sweetheart deal to csu that only really benefits csu. There may be sometimes in negotiation that you give sweetheart deals, but i for sure as hell don’t support giving sweetheart deals to a party screwing you over and further suing you because they don’t want to pay the previously negotiated liquidated damages that come from screwing you over.

But by all means, great job Wyoming athletics department in this negotiation. You have shown that we are CSU’s …..

Sounds like we mostly agree then. Really, the only problem I have with the game is that it is in Fort Collins and not Laramie. While we might agree on that, I'm pretty sure there are other fans/posters that do not feel that way and would be fine if we never played CSU ever again. In their opinion, if your aunt had balls, well, they would still be your aunt.

I really don't care about any of the other stuff. I give credit to CSU for at least trying to move up in the world of college athletics. It's better than the "it's too tough, why even try" approach UW has taken. Are some of their expectations delusional? Sure. Is the PAC conference ultimately going to get them to be part of the big boys? Highly unlikely, but it's pretty clear to me that it is a better conference than the new MWC the Pokes are in.

If CSU says, we aren’t going along with this because we don’t feel that this would be treating our long term partner Wyoming right and in good faith, this whole ploy of Oregon State and Washington State never works and both teams are in a much better place with a single merged western G6 league.

To top it off, once you do choose the path to screw over your long time partner. You don’t turn around and sue them because you don’t like the contract you agreed to with exit fees.

CSU hasn’t achieved anything other than to f*** over Wyoming. They aren’t moving to the Big12. They are moving to the MWC 2.0.

Ehhh, I don't blame them for acting in what they thought was their best interest. I don't think they owe UW, or any other program, loyalty if it comes at a perceived cost to themselves. I highly doubt UW would show CSU any loyalty if the roles were reversed.

Ironically, as you have already pointed out, trying to force a merger with the PAC leftover would have been what was actually in CSU's best interest long term. It's too bad they were too dumb to see it that way.

Burman: I believe we're positioned well to win conference titles in the new look MWC that includes Northeastern Montana State Indian Teachers College.
You can't discount that NEMSITC clay shooting team, that program is gonna bring them into the SEC in 5 years we gotta be ready for it

I really see this as more a reflection of where Burman and the administration see our program. High level fans know North Texas is a very good program. They may be in the G6, but as far as scheduling goes - getting a home game against this type of program should be what UW is looking for. Springing an upset would really help the image and perception of where our program is. Instead, UW sees the program as trying to hold on to the past. I get trying to keep the rivalry in tact, but this is not a game we should be getting rid of. I just think the optics are really bad (and worse because of the road game they now got involved with). I actually would give Burman a lot of credit for this series with UNT. I think there were 4 now 3 games against UNT on the schedule.

So you'd rather see Wyoming get the shit kicked out of them in non conference, stack up injuries, and struggle through the rest of the season than build some momentum before going into a the part of the season that matters?

The non conference is very unappealing this year — I'm of the same opinion. I'd still rather root for a team that's competitive than one that gets piss pounded week in and week out. I'd also be super pissed if our AD just let a 125+ year rivalry with a school 50 miles away die.

This ain't 1996. College football is different. I can say without a shadow of a doubt I'd rather see Wyoming beat a 7 win UConn team than be one of Florida State's 2 wins.

LOL.

Wyoming can get (and has gotten) the shit kicked out of them by FCS teams, so what is the difference? Oh, ya, MONEY is the difference. Wyoming athletics needs all the money can get, especially under the current leadership.

Our AD didn't do shit about the 2027 season with CSewe, so he let our 125 year old rivalry die then, is that right? CSewe made the decision to part ways (and sued us on the way out), and Burman licked their balls to put us in the SheepPen this fall, instead of a 7th home game, on a shit schedule year OOC. Brilliant work.

This ain't 1996, hilarious. And I disagree, one of the best wins for a fan in a similar scenario, was beating Tennessee in Knoxville, for their homecoming, in fall of 2008. One of our 4 wins, and their 7 losses. It was a blast. I would take that over beating North Dakota, Montana State, or anyone else FCS.
