Dameko Doddles is exactly where he expected to be.

The 6-foot-2, 202-pound wide receiver is one of 14 true freshmen expect to play in Wyoming’s season opener Saturday against North Dakota.

So far, all has gone according to plan, Doddles says.

“During the recruiting process, they told me that there’s going to be some freshmen that have to play,” said Doddles, a three-star recruit from Oklahoma City. “They were going to let me earn my spot. It wasn’t really a surprise. I knew my role and I knew that I would work hard because this is what I want. I’m a little nervous, but I’m ready for it.”

With only juniors Tanner Gentry and Jake Maulhardt boasting in-game experience at receiver in 2014, UW coach Craig Bohl will rely on a bevy of freshmen to catch passes this season.
