Wyoming football: An early look at Appalachian State

I don't mind App State the opponent, but I bet Bohl would rather not deal with these mid-season road games across the country. Did it last year with UH, and now App State. At NDSU, Bohl and the Bison were the Florida of the FCS: they rarely travel long distances to play anyone. Everything is within their comfort zone.

The UH game threw the team off its axis last year. Crossing my fingers App State doesn't do the same.

small time to only play teams in your region. ole miss and virginia came to laramie to play in a new region and get their name out there. plus there are east coast wyo fans who rarely if ever get a chance to see the pokes. this is a good opponent and a good judge of where we are. it will be great to see them at the war as well.

 Everyone here realizes App State was ranked higher than Wyo last year, right? Based on recent history, those guys have more of a right to bitch about playing us.

You could say that about approximately 105 other teams as well.

Sorry, just because we don't win games doesn't mean we are a nickel whore that has to turn tricks to anyone who winks at us.
I thought that was exactly what it meant.

Lack of success often makes it easier to schedule teams.

not anymore when sos is part of who makes playiffs. see baylor and marshall last year.

fcs teams cant afford to travel much as they dont get paid much for away games. they make less playing a p5 then we do even. i do not want a fcs scheduling philosophy thank you

Someone should tell the teams in the T10; probably T25 too but I haven't checked all of them.

Wasn't Ole Miss and VA part of a 2 for 1 and during the early part of the season?

Like I said, the timing and distance of this game is my hang up and there really isn't a benefit other than "working out" against a similar talent level.

Is Alabama small time? Since you brought up Baylor, I'd say SMU, Rice and Lamar are all pretty regional and not really powerhouses. Maybe defending champs Ohio State (HI at home) W Michigan, N Illinois and VA Tech seems pretty regional.

Ole Miss was a 2=1 but I think Virginia was a 1-1

Last year their schedule included Buffalo. Hardly regional to me

Missouri a top 25 team is coming to Laramie as well on a 1-1 deal

I think you just try to play a good schedule with some solid teams on it. Appy state fits that bill and brings a decent team into laramie as well for the home fans as part of the 1-1 deal. Something tells me getting good teams to laramie is not the easiest job in the world either. I like the appy matchup frankly. I get the distance but hey that come out here the enxt year and we get the advantage

I'm pretty stoked to see Oregon come. I don't mind 2 for 1 if they really come (like TX and Nebraska).

Maybe Burman had no control over when games were scheduled but I just hate this one right before AF. If we had a home game against FCS or a bye week after, I wouldn't oppose it as much. I just hope it is a 2:00 pm start time (like 12:00 for our guys) rather than a night game or early morning.
