After productive summer, Wyoming football kicks off fall camp

If Monday's Wyoming football practice didn't look like its first in months, that's because it wasn't.

Technically, the 9:30 a.m. practice session was the team's fall camp debut -- the first opportunity for the Cowboys' coaching staff to step on a field and evaluate its new crop.

And technically, the team hasn't officially practiced together since Wyoming's spring game on April 19.

But in Laramie, the summer was devoted to more than heavy weights and bronzing tans. And this summer, more than those previous, the Cowboys continued to improve.

I wish Vegas did lines for games involving FCS opponents. I seriously don't know what to expect from the Wyo-Montana game. I'm aiming for anything from a slim Grizzly win to a 30+ point Wyoming win. :)

I know you will say this is just the BeaverPoke being optimistic but I really do see Wyo winning big.
I think back to Glenn destroying Appy State.
I don't think we will dominate teams all season, but I think Bohl wants to make a big mark with his first game.
He knows COLLEGE football is about more than W's and L's. He wants to generate excitement by having a box score that says Wyo- A lot, Montana-A little. He especially doesn't want to go from 3 straight national titles in the FCS to having a an FBS team and losing to an FCS team right off the bat.

He talked about his NDSU team being worn down just one time in 11 seasons- against Wyo.
He knows how to use the elevation to an advantage (because he coached a team that got beat by the elevation...final score of that Wyo NDSU game was 16 to 13 on a last minute FG by Wyo).
He will do his best to make sure the run game is working. He has convinced his team that they are stronger, they have the winners attitude (something DC NEVER did).
The defense will play great.

Basically what I am saying is that he is putting all his eggs in this basket kinda.

Bohl wants this game to be great for Wyo, and bad for Montana. He isn't just looking for a W.

And that is no disrespect to Montana, because I believe if this game was later in the season, Wyo would be worn down and it would be closer, and last season they may have beaten us, especially if it was in Missoula.

There is just too much to lose for Bohl and the staff by losing or even having a close game against an FCS team to start their new jobs in Laramie.
 
The versus app says Wyoming wins 35-34...and the Massey ratings have Wyoming winning 34-31. Those are the only estimates I've seen outside of BP's call for 56-0 type blowout. ;)

BTW, Massey Ratings....not a pretty picture for UW this season.

UW fall sports media day in the books

First-year football coach Craig Bohl was the guy most came to listen to, and he didn’t disappoint. Although he knows the challenges ahead, it was hard to leave there not feeling good about this team and the future of UW football.

Bohl has talked a lot about being “Cowboy Tough” and bringing that back to the program. He spoke about that Monday, but said it’s time to show that on the field.
