Wyoming at Air Force Preview

The matchup with the Cowboys presents differing styles, or at least results. Wyoming ranks 10th out of the 12 teams in the Mountain West in total offense (357.7 yards per game) and fifth in total defense (345.7).

The Falcons rank first and last in the conference in those categories.

The result against the lone common opponent also demonstrates the extremes. Wyoming lost 31-17 to UNLV on Oct. 4, while Air Force fell to the Rebels 51-48 a week later.

Wyoming can win, should win, HC Jay Sawvel needs to show Cowboy nation he has the ship pointed in the right direction and a win on the road would do that.

When he took over as HC of a 9 win team his job was to take us to a new level and not to 3 wins. He has no skills in reinventing the Pokes. Nothing less than 7;wins before the Bowl game. Otherwise hit the road Jack!
I think what we forget about Bohl’s last year is how many of those 9 wins, the ball bounced our way. That season could have easily had 3 or more losses than it did. I’ve also been thinking about how in his first 2 seasons, he was transitioning us from a spread to a pro style offense. First year, 4 wins, second year, 2. Sawvel is switching up our offense to be more of a spread, and less of a ground and pound. So maybe we’ve been a little too critical here of him? I’ve been critical, but the more I’ve thought, the more I think about that. That said, I expect at least 6 wins this year, and then next season is the tipping point. For now, I’ll be patient, cheer for the players, and see what happens. More than anything I’m just tired of the “doom and gloom”. Let’s Go Pokes! Beat the zoomies!
