Wyoming +35 vs. BSU

Next two weeks will be tough, potentially brutal. Playing a competitive game with either team would be a pleasant surprise. This will be a real challenge for the offense. Coffman has played well, and Hill has dominated. Can Hill get over 100 rushing vs. this Boise D?

Game is on ESPN2 BTW.

Yeah, this one will be rough. It doesn't diminish the progress the team has made since the start of the year, but that progress may not be readily apparent in this game. Would love to be wrong.

At least espn2 picked it up for some extra bonus $.

With that said, Boise is going to come out pissed off. The only "win" we will possibly have this game is if we come out with no injuries

A true hornets nest, if there ever were one.

+32? Is the this the largest underdog we've ever been? This spread is gigantic

I don't think it is the largest...I remember some larger lines (at Auburn, at Texas A&M, at Oregon) that were larger. Vegas knew something last week - probably know this week as well. Ugh.

That is a big line, but think the Pokes cover.....again. This young Poke team just got a taste of victory.....even so, they don't quit or give up. If we can eliminate the big plays and turnovers....I see a 17 point loss at most.

I don't know about that. There is a huge gap between us and Boise. We could not have picked a worse week to play Boise in Boise.

I would like to think that we could easily cover this line, but I wouldn't put any money on us doing that.

I disagree. Boise just crapped their chance at the Fiesta Bowl and a MWC championship down the toilet. By their standards there's not much left to play for, pretty hard to get up after such a huge let down. And I bet they are taking us for granted

Just going back a few years, the spread was 31 at Nebraska in 2013, 31 at Texas in 2012, 35 at Boise in 2011, 35 at TCU in 2010. The two largest that I've found in the last twenty were last year at Oregon (42) and 37 at Nebraska in 1994; covered both.

The spreads mentioned at Texas A&M in 2000 (14) and 2004 (11) and at Auburn (12) sure seem like ages ago when Wyoming was at least somewhat respected as a competitive team based on performance in the 90's. In 2000, Auburn and Texas A&M were the first two games of the season.

The more telling stat is that Wyoming has lost to Boise the last five years by 49, 41, 31, 22 and 45.

I can't ever remember Boise rolling over and calling it a season after a loss. Boise has plenty to play for. USU has the best defense in the MWC but is beatable (yes USU could lose 2 games). Boise's season is far from over.

...also, Boise has rolled us every time we have played them since Glenn.

I just think this team wont' roll over......the key is not turning the ball over and not giving up big plays. I don't think this Boise team is all that great.....so time for the Pokes to make a game out of it.

There is one person (IMO) whether we cover or not: Jeremy McNichols.

I have a few friends very connected with USU athletics and two different people (on staff) will be the first to admit that although USU played well, Boise not having their #1 back really altered the USU D scheme. Allowed USU to be much more aggressive.

McNichols plays, I see the score being around 49-14...
No McNichols, I think it will be in the 38-14 range.

What sucks with BSU getting punked by USU so badly, is I don't think MWC will have a NY6 Bowl this year. I thought their NY6 was in jeopardy anyway because of the bad loss to Provo, but still had shot if they rolled people. That ship has sailed. And no way I see USU going to NY6 bowl.

Harsin said McNichols is playing.

Yeah, saying Boise will win by 17 at most is the gold colored glasses talking. This team won 63-14 in Laramie last year and appeared to barely break a sweat doing so. It was a scrimmage. Could have scored 80+ if they wanted. I don't think the score will be that bad, but to suggest the CEILING for a loss is 17 points? lol no. I think it's the opposite...the floor is 17. Closest Wyo has played BSU since 2006 is 22 points (2011). Recent games have been losses by 31, 41, and 49. Merciful losses of 31, 41, and 49.

Our best loss to Boise was in 2006 in Laramie, 17-10. All other losses to the Smurfs were blowouts!

No one hasn't raped UW as much as Boise has. No one!!!!

We'll see J-Rod. Not saying we'll win, just saying if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot, we won't be embarrassed. The 17 point at most is if Wyoming plays a error free game.

So appears Houston will be the group of five invite as it stands?

My bet is on Memphis. Temple is still in it. The AAC champ should be the NY6 bid regardless IMO. That is a pretty good conference this year.
