WYO vs. LOBOS

That was the best team game the Cowboys played all year. Great coaching by shyatt, great rotation and everyone stepped up. First win in 12 years awesome. Nail biter to the end but josh really stepped up after having his worst game of the year and shedding tears with the team after San Jose. Dalton played like he did at SDSU we need that every game. Liberman played great D and outside of the 0-5 start those 7 pts in 65 seconds were a game changer. He moved the ball well great assist and rebounds by him and the small guys were huge. This team is starting to play with great chemistry and an "us against the world" mentality. Seeing guys on the Bench really pulling for the team and at timeouts seeing Trey with his arms around Lieberman and dalton when they all compete for playing time shows a bond developing that shyatt has to love. These guys have to put aside egos and pull for one another which they did. Team chemistry we'll take us far. Go Cowboys. Fantastic game and congrats coach shyatt.

There are maybe 2 or 3 people here who actually want Shyatt gone. Most of the people who complain about Shyatt are more than happy with him, but feel he could do better and get frustrated with his conservative style. He has some thin skin when it comes to criticism.

I will say i was frustrated early in the season with Marshall not playing but I had to take a step back and realize that the coaching staff knows more about what is going on behind the scenes than I do.

I don't have a problem with Shyatt criticizing the fans . He has a right to defend himself when everyone talks shit about him on a message board. Just my opinion.

Shyatt isn't going anywhere and let's not forget that although we are drinking from the Wyoming kool-aid bowl not many good coaches want to relocate to Laramie. Shyatt has done a great job in a tough conference in a small town with limited facilities. Only now is the facility and the first round draft pick of Nance starting to help. Charles Barkley loves Nance If we can somehow pull out a good year get an NCAA bid and josh get drafted to the NBA Wyoming is making noise which is awesome. Go cowboys
 
How much of the Shyatt criticism comes from folks yearning for the early McClain years? Those were fun to watch but they hinged on having arguably some of the most talent, top to bottom, that has suited up for the brown and gold. Once the Davis, Bailey, Richardson, Unsonwu-Amadi, train left we were nothing special. Shyatt, for my money, is a much better fit for a school that will consistently have struggles recruiting D1 talent.

On a side note...that run and fun and gun style truly is entertaining but is very dependent on a high talent level....teams that are successful that run up tempo offenses have teams with 3-5 one on one matchups that they can win in any game. For teams like Wyo to be successful the whole must be greater than the sum of its parts ... and it helps to occasionally have a truly special player like Adams.
 
I've been hoping when Larry retires, Jeremy would take over as a head coach, and they could build a dynasty at Wyoming.
 
Great win by the guys today. Holy hell Josh Adams! The kid was on fire! Please don't construe my comments as I want Shyatt gone. I really like Shyatt. I just get tired of hearing, "poor Cowboys. Everyone picks on us. We just lost on th road to SJSU and boo hoo the fans are upset." Enough. You just accomplished something that hasn't happened since 2003. Talk about that, not your "critics"
 
Great win, Cowboys! Big time winning in the Pit. Feelin' good at the moment. Josh Adams is the man. period. It was good to see Lieberman and Dalton have a pulse today, hopefully that will continue. Does Shyatt really read this forum? If he does he should take everything with a 25 lb grain of salt. He's a great coach. Let's gget revenge on the Pack.

There's no reason why you should be confused by this team.

Bottom line? They are younger than young.

They are precociously young at times, they are learning on a game-by-game basis.

The up one moment and down the next scenarios that have played out during the course of this season are all signs of a team going through important maturation periods.

Expect more ups and downs.

Definitely a work in progress.

One word, Wow, I'm down in Phoenix visiting grandma and went to an awesome Cardinals game(die hard fan). Read about this one Wow oh wow, wtg Josh
 
Great win, better grit. The one thing I did notice and I noticed it more with James and Lieberman. When Josh was out, their effort and awareness increased two fold. If we can get these young kids to play with the drive that Josh has while Josh is on the floor, the sky really is the limit for this team. I also like the pace of this team. One possession they are running the clock down to zero to shoot like last year. But they wont always do that, sometimes they will run 10 seconds of offense and take an open look. They really did not do that last year. Most of our league plays at a run and gun style and that leads to a lot less defense. We have a chance against any team and games like this will make tourny time very interesting. No one wants to play the pokes playing this game.
 
The people critical of Shy boggle my damn mind. I get it with Heath Schroyer. He was a quick fix specialist with a foul mouth, a history of failure, and the on court coaching skills equivalent to several of the back seat drivers we have telling Shy how to coach from the anonymity of a message board.

Let's review what Shy has done for Wyoming. In 1997 he inherited a team with no discipline from Joby Wright and turned the program into a smart winning team in only one season. He recruited the core of a basketball team that went on to win two MWC titles. It should have been evident then what a great coach he is for Wyoming.

On his second return, he inherited an even bigger mess from Heath. He won 20 games every year since he's been back(although probably not this year). He won our first MWC tournament title in any sport. He won our first conference championship since 2002. He sent a member of his first recruiting class to the first round of the NBA(Byron Scott says he would have been a lottery pick if the NBA executives knew what they know now 8 months ago). He's likely to send a member of his second recruiting class to the NBA this year with Josh Adams. He was instrumental in rallying support for the new AA. He runs a clean program and has the national respect we've been lacking since Brandy left for SDSU. He turned down an NBA job to stay in Laramie. In fact, he is going to retire here: giving us the stability our program has lacked since Ev Shelton coached the Pokes. He's compiled an impressive Wyoming record of 114-69, when two of those seasons we're cleaning up two of the biggest messes in Wyoming basketball history.

This season, with the fourth youngest team in the country, he's broken decade long losing streaks at the Pit and at Magness Arena. He's been one of three teams to win at NMSU, where they were something like 51-4 in the 55 games at home before we beat them there. Shyatt does many things that NO Wyoming coach has done in 10-15 years, and yet, a percentage of our fan base hates on him.

So, bitch all you want haters. It just makes you look stupider. It makes you look like you don't realize that we have one of the top 5 basketball coaches in the history of a basketball program that has won TWO national titles.

Keep hating douchers. All it does is make you look ignorant, while inspiring our team and coaches to prove you wrong.

I'm glad he callls out the internet morons on the radio show. They love to shine the spotlight on him every time he takes a bad loss. It's good to see him turn it back on them. It's too bad they give their hate anonymously, without having to suffer the consequences for being douchebags. It might help them stifle the urge to puke stupidity all over the internet every time the team suffers a set back.
 
I don't really know who Shyatt is talking about. There's no one in the press critical of him and there might be a few posts here and there that are critical but I don't see some sort of huge group that is down on him

Yeah, no joke. A few may criticize a decision or two during a game, but I've seen no one on here 'hate' him or want him gone. In fact i'd say most really like him.

Hell if he's talking about any of us or ghost critics I don't care. I'm sure he's pulling all the right motivational strings. Once again he looks quite a few steps ahead of us Wyonation critics. Yes some things have seemed puzzling at times. Yes there have been disappointments, but once again we are getting a Larry Shyatt team that will compete with any MWC competition on a neutral court. We are exactly what I've always wanted for years. A team that just keeps improving to the end of the season and plays balls out for one another with discipline and style. BRAVO POKES BRAVO :dance: :dance: :dance:

Maybe Shyatt is "critical of online posters" to back his players up?

Maybe the coaches don't care. Maybe they never read anything on here.
But maybe he hears the kids talking about how people on wyonation or people on twitter said something negative about them?

So then Shy says "fuck the haters!" so the players realize he has their back?

Coaching in this day of technology really does involve figuring out how to deal with social media.
