I bet they didn't give Drube any reps except for those run packages. He should get all the reps now. Anderson can always come back in 2nd half next week if he really struggles. and i mean really struggles. The hope I see with Drube is he can get the ball out much quicker than Anderson.
Agree completely. Not feeding the ball to Tote and the backs is on Bouknight. It’s inexplicable what he was seeing in Anderson to keep dropping him back when Tote is getting you 9 yards a carry.I bet they didn't give Drube any reps except for those run packages. I would have started Anderson this game, but as I said previously, if he really struggles first half, I would have been ready to go with Drube the rest of the game. Hell, that might have forced Bouknight to hand the ball off more.
I think he’s got to pull the trigger on Anderson at this point. Drube does pose a better threat with his legs, and all he really has to do is protect the ball and throw a few short to mid range passes. The defense is one of the best we’ve fielded and it’s going to waste right now. What worries me the most is that maybe we aren’t seeing creative plays because the coaches don’t believe that they have the players. You could tell in this game while it was close, Jovon was afraid to call pass plays because he knew a pick was looming. Coaching careful isn’t going to help. But if you don’t have the horses, the inevitable will happen. Go with Mason, see if he’s the one that gives the spark the offense needs. They’ve got nothing to lose at this point.Agree completely. Drube will keep defenses honest respecting QB run and if he can complete 50%+ of his passes and not throw INTs, he gives this team a shot with our defense.
Completely disagree unless you're referring to opening up the pass playbook. Bouknight called a shitty game, he didn't call too few of passes, he called way too many. You could tell in this game while it was close, Jovon was afraid to call pass plays because he knew a pick was looming.
Yep. Bouknight carries most of the blame on this one. Run almost every play and use all the clock would have been the best approach. It was obvious by the 2nd quarter.Completely disagree unless you're referring to opening up the pass playbook. That’s what I mean by coaching careful. When the game was close, first half mainly, all we did was run up the gut. Then, what we come out with are wide receiver screens, out routes to the sideline, and RB screens. That’s not aggressive or showing confidence in your quarterback. The times he tried to throw deep were ill timed and not even close. Even his first completion on the first drive was a duck that Durr fielded like a damn punt. Either receivers aren’t working to get open, or Kaden is that bad. Or both. Combine all that with terrible offensive line play and you have what appears to be the worst offense in our history. I’m not sure what Jovon can even do to fix all that.Yep. Bouknight carries most of the blame on this one. Run almost every play and use all the clock would have been the best approach. It's obvious at this point that the most likely outcome of a pass is incomplete or intercepted. The incomplete pass does two things 1) no gain and 2) stops the clock. At least with a no gain run the clock keeps running. In this game that would have helped by giving fresno fewer plays. Their offense wasn't all that efficient and also a rested d would have been more effective. That’s what I mean by coaching careful.
