Cruz played solid tonight I know it was an exhibition game but I'm still pumped for the Cowboys.

85 - 77

Cruz played lights out tonight. He will likely be our "go to guy" whenever we need a score this season. He looks to be our top offensive threat. It will be interesting to see how his touches are affected once Muojeke comes back.

I was very impressed with the play of Washington. He has really developed as an offensive threat. That was something he was lacking while at USC. His defensive toughness down low and rebounding ability will be a big asset for the Pokes this year. I believe Washington is the best all around baketball player on the squad this year.

It was good to see Waddell play well tonight. He is a hustle guy who is highly active on the offensive glass and will get the vast majority of his offensive looks that way.

Video highlight of Washington/Cruz from Gagliardi:

Im very impressed. They need work but the talent is there and they play like a team.
And a coach saying "we" instead of "I" in the post game was VERY refreshing.
I missed being in my seat in the Double A :D

Afam does not show up on the stats. Is he gone? hurt (again)? And what about the Colorado recruit Marshall?

watch the interview with Coach

Marshall was at a funeral and had not practiced much. Afam tweeked his knee and got nervous so sat out to be safe. Both are expected to play next game

Better to be safe with knee injuries, because those can come back to bite you in the ass. Besides, just an exhibition, so we should be alright going forward.

I was at the game last night. I know it was just an exhibition game, but I think we are going to be happy with this team. The biggest difference from last year (besides the loss of Jackson & M'Baye and a certain coach) is attitude & the entire mental outlook. What struck me the most about the new freshmen players that I saw - especially Grabau & Nance - was that they are still in transition from high school to D1 college ball. They haven't quite completely grasped the athletic ability, quickness, & speed of this level yet. Gillmore was a little nervous and tentative in his debut. Nance is listed at 6-7, but he is more like 6-9 and still lanky but athletic.

who is shaq daddy? And the post game is Night and Day difference from a certain new assistant coach at UNLV.

He didn't get much playing time in the game, so I didn't really get a read on him one way or the other. Not sure why he didn't get in the game more. Shyatt is a very sharp coach, so maybe he already knew what Shakir could do and wanted to get more PT for some of the others for game evaluation and game experience.

The stat I like on there is that we shot 51% from the field and we scored 85 points. Anytime you score that many points and can shoot 51% from the field you are going to be good offensively. Of course we were playing weaker competition but still that is a nice stat.

Also Leonard Washington is a physical guy and will probably get fouled a lot this year. He hit 9-10 from the free throw line. That is nice. Hopefully he shoots upwards of 80% from the line all year.
