WYO @ UC-SANTA BARBARA

I know it's only Sunday but I want to get this talk going!
I'm loving that the Pokes are 6-0 for the first time in 25 years. Although I know they have done it against weak competition, it is still awesome that we are undefeated am I right?
And even if the competition has been weak, it's not like this is the first time that we have had a weak first 6 games since then.

So bottom line, we are 6-0.
GAME: 6-0 WYO @ 2-3 UCSB

UCSB has lost to LSU, Illinois State, and Boise St. With wins over San Diego and Masters College.

UCSB was a solid team last year finishing 20-11 but they are not the same team as last year.

Wyo should handle this team like we have others.
I personally want to see a complete game, doesn't have to be a blowout, but just a very complete good game by the Pokes before CU comes into town.

Pokes win 61-49

I think the Cowboys are going to need the bench to step up more. Sobey, Adams, and Cooke have been good off the bench. We still need a SF to step up. Is Jason hurt or just not getting the playing time. Haroldson is good also. I think a 9 man rotation would go a long way for the pokes, foul trouble will happen so the 9 man rotation will be huge. We need another big to be recruited though. Sellers does not look good at all.
The Cowgirls are very deep and talented. Hopefully Fatima will play soon, is she still injured. I think the Cowgirls finish in the top 3 of the league. Anything else is a disappointment for them. Cowboys can finish 4th in the league, but UNLV has not played great at all, and New Mexico is replacing some guys. I like their chances against the Top 3 in Laramie, and Pokes played very well in The Pit last year.

That's kind of been my feeling on the pokes all year. I like our chances against the big 3 in laramie. And we did play well against NM last season in the pit, but I think we played better against SDSU in san diego considering we took them to OT.
If we go undefeated at home in conference play, and grab 1 against the big 3 on the road i think we finish top 3

This will be a good barometer for where Wyoming is at. Boise State embarrassed this team, and most expect BSU to finish somewhere between 7th-9th (although, some feel BSU may be the surprise team of the MW this year)....based on that, you would think the Pokes win this game by 10 points at least.

A win in this one will then plate a 7-0 Wyoming squad against an undefeated ranked Colorado team in the Dome of Doom, and why isn't the school promoting this game!!!

Like I said, the AD's office needs to promote the fuck out the B-ball program like they did with the football team (average of over 20,000 most of the season).

My feeling...the athletic dept. is too lazy plus basketball doesn't pay the bills, football does so all energy goes the football program.

Yeah, only if you're good at football.

True but apparently our athletic dept. doesn't think so. Could be worse.....the department could've lost $200,000 to a conman (or con group) like the athletic dept. at the University of Hawaii did this last summer.

A lot of truth to this, but they need to recruit our teams that aren't depressing!

In order for this team to compete, they'll need more production from Nance Jr. He produced almost nothing against CSU-Bakersfield, and was the key reason we were only up by 8 at the half on a team we held to 30% shooting. He appeared distracted and unhappy.

Washington is doing a pretty good job as the heart and leader on the floor, I hope his maturity holds and he maintains that fiery composure through the season. Grabau, too, plays with a ton of heart, his passing is quick and sharp, much improved over last season. It's clear that these players respond to Coach Shyatt too, I think we've got a real team so far.

Cooke filled in okay for Nance's deficit, but wow, was that kid winded after just five minutes. I think some trail-running up on the Snowies are in order, but, sadly, acclimatization is never an assured thing. A lot of people are simply physiologically incapable (through absolutely no fault of their own) to adjust to higher elevations.

I got an e-mail today from the athletic dept. called a cyber monday deal. Buy a ticket to the CU game and get a free gold cowboy t-shirt. Seems like a decent deal to me.

keep that Gillette kid in check as he's one that got away from Heath(surprisingly...lol), he's gonna be motivated to play against us, Taren Brown....

Agreed Nance needs to step it up sometime this season!!!! I like Cooke alot!!!! Luke needs to get his rhythm!!!

Most dissapointing players so far: Martinez, Nance.
Most shining lights: Grabau, Cooke.

Just an observation/opinion.

I'm very excited for this game tomorrow night! This game is going to serve as a great barometer for the Pokes basketball team. UCSB is the best basketball team the Pokes will have faced in this young season, and it's a road game. If the Cowboys can walk out of that gym tomorrow night with a win, I will be very impressed. It will be no easy task.

UCSB was picked to finish 5th in the 10 team Big West conference in the media's preseason poll.

Player to Watch: #35 Taran Brown - This will be a very interesting matchup to watch because not only has Taran Brown been the Gauchos best player so far this season, but he is also from Gillette, Wyoming. He currently leads UCSB in points and assists and is 2nd on the team in rebounds as a redshirt freshman. Should be an interesting dynamic to watch as I'm sure the kid will be fired up to be playing UW and he certainly has the skills to make UW pay.

cmon Pokes, let's get this one a huge steal at a tough place to play, the Thunderdome, 7-0 playing a #19 team on Saturday...man oh man
