Wyo @ South Dakota part 2

The 6-2 Cowboys will play South Dakota for the second time. South Dakota has won 3 straight after losing to Wyoming in the AA. They play at AFA on Thursday and can either move to 4-3 or 3-4.
Wyo handled SD the first time by 17, outscoring SD by 13 in the first half, then taking the foot off the gas only outscoring them by 4 in the 2nd half.

I'm not sure, but I think this game is being played on a neutral court, close to the Wyo borders, but I might be thinking of a different game?

If it is, I think there could be a decent Poke crowd, and be able to run away with this game like they did the first time.

I am excited to see how the Pokes play a team for the 2nd time, as obviously that will happen with almost every MWC team.

The game won't be played until Saturday, and it's only Monday, but with it being the week before finals, and us having a shit football program, I am already excited for this game.

Yeah, the game is in Rapid City. Hopefully we get a nice contingent from Gillette over to support the Pokes.

Pokes really need to improve on the defensive side of the ball. Important week of practice coming up.
 
treat it like a conference game and the 2nd time things may be different...I see a different team, but we still get it done by 4 or 5

Should be closer to 14 or 15 not 4 or 5!
 
what did we beat them by last time somewhere around 12 if I remember right, we never play well on the road!!!!
 
Read Larry's comments on playing a team the second time. He said it is entirely different, that's why he wants a home-and-home with a non-conference opponent -- to show them how it will be in conference. He pointed out the AA 40 pt blowout of Utah Valley but a last second basket by Washington to win it at Utah Valley.

17 actually, for what it's worth.

Technically a neutral court game. I predict we will look like absolute crap for about 30 minutes and then put it together for 10 minutes and win by 12-15.

+1 This would be par for the course. Hopefully we are wrong and they come out and win by more than they did at the double a but I won't hold my breath.
 
I can't wait for Saturday. Me and my crew have had tix for quite awhile now and have great seats. Hopefully we get a bunch of wyo fans there for the game.
 
I think Shyatt puts a lot of emphasis on playing a team the second time.
He knows they were a little slow and lazy monday, after their 2nd games in 3 days. They are probably going to have a very good week of practice and be very focused, especially with the Pokes not having another game for 8 days after this one.

I think Wyo will look very polished, and should take it to SD all game.
 
I love the fact that Shyatt makes it a priority to schedule an out-of-conference team twice in the same season. Although the Pokes will be facing the same players tomorrow night, this will be a much tougher contest than the first time around. Why? For one, the game is not in the AA. While this is a neutral court game, the travel, staying in a hotel, shooting in an arena with unfamiliar surroundings will all make this feel like a road game for the Cowboys. There is no other sport that affords a bigger advantage when playing at home than college basketball, and the Cowboys won't have that in their favor this time. In addition, you can expect the Coyotes to play with a chip on their shoulders. There is no better motivation than facing a team who has already beat you. Lastly, there are no secrets in terms of schemes or playing style. You can bet that the Coyotes will be more well prepared for our transition offense. That isn't something we did much of last year and I think that caught them off guard a bit in the first match-up. The really good basketball players also pick up on small intracacies in the opposing player's game that leads to small adjustments when they see them again. Invisible to the observer, these can make a big difference in the outcome of a game.

I think there are two major keys to this game in order for the Pokes to leave Rapid City with a win. First, the Pokes need to do a better job of getting a body on Gruis when the Coyotes put a shot up. I thought we did a decent job limiting Gruis' offensive looks in the post, but he killed us with offensive rebounds. 6 offensive rebounds is way too many to give up to a single player. I'll be looking for improvement in this area. Secondly, we need to be aware of where Brandon Bos (G, 6'1, 185 lbs, Jr.) is at all times. Bos has emerged as the Coyotes' biggest offensive threat and has played quite well since we saw him in Laramie. A very good shooter from long-range, if he gets hot he could single handedly keep South Dakota in the game. The Cowboys did a great job on him in Laramie, and we need a repeat performance to ensure a W again.

The Coyotes won 3 straight games after losing in Laramie before dropping a game in Colorado Springs to Air Force yesterday. The Coyotes played very well, leading at halftime and had the game tied with only 3 minutes remaining in the game. Granted, Air Force is a bad basketball team, but for South Dakota to be able to hang with a MWC team on the road will inspire confidence in them. There is no doubt that the Cowboys are the superior basketball team in this contest, but the chance of a loss increases given that this is a re-match. Good challenge for the Pokes.

Holy shit there is a basketball game! I have been so consumed by the coaching search, conference championship games, and studying for finals week I totally forgot!

It looks like there is a stream from the network(MidcoSN) that is televising it, but you have to be a subscriber. I believe they are a cable provider in SD. No way to get the stream unless someone throws it up on another site.

I wish they would allow PPV type purchase of their live streamed sporting events. I would pay 9.95 or 14.95 or something to watch this game.
 
Way to get a technical at the wrong time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What in the heck are they thinking even if it is a bad call you don't get a technical at this point in the game. Geez.
