BTW LanderPoke you should be able to watch some good bball right there in your home town. According to the Wyopreps site Lander Boys are rolling up and down the floor. Averaging 72.7 points a game (leading the state) and a record of 11-5. Sounds like good basketball to me.

I hear Lander is fun to watch, but Laramie is my hometown! Anyway, I would like to see Lander play..would have to make time, though. tax season is starting to ramp up.

I C I just assumed you lived in Lander. I watched them about a month ago and they do get after it. Fun to watch an appear to be really well coached.

Oh come on now...you can't make an argument based on this article. First off I could only read part of it unless I subscribed but more importantly the part that I read made reference to games scoring in the 70's and 80s. We had 14 at half last night 14!. Furthermore my argument is the poor way in which Shyatt uses the shot clock. Every possession is a scramble at the end to get a shot and lately it has been a BAD shot selection. Even the commentators we amiss by it last might. The game is evolving to look more and more like the pro game where it is all about one on one match ups and play. To date the NCAA has allowed the use of creative defenses to keep this in check that is what makes the college game so much more fun to watch in my opinion. So the direction of the game is not merely as concerning to me as how Shyatt utilizes his players.

I definitely agree that our shot selection is often forced. I just meant stall ball is becoming a bit more popular. I've wondered if some teams let off the defensive gas for the first part of the shot clock knowing we likely won't shoot then turn it on for the last 10 seconds?

I think Shy's offense would benefit drastically from a pure shooter or two on the floor. It is kind of like a pro-style Offense in football without a good QB.

We weren't on pace for a NCAA at large last year before Nance went down. And we weren't really on pace for a NCAA at large this year either. Every bradketoligist had us out of the tournament, even before mono struck. Once we lost to USU our only chance has been the tournament, barring some kind of super hot finish to the season.

You guys act like this team would have been this bad all year if say Larry went pro last year. I bet none of us have any idea how hard it is to deal with the loss of a player like Larry mid season on the fly. TSpoke said in a different thread that Boise lost tons of games after drimic went out. Nance is a much bigger losss that drimic. Everyone's overreacting pisses me off and make WYO fans seem like whiny bitches

No overreacting just the facts. 1-8 without Nance that is a SJSU type season.

We are? I thought we were 0-2 cuz you know we are not the same team as last year. I imagine it takes a while to adjust to the loss of Nance like it took Boise a while to adjust to Drmic(Nance is a much bigger loss). I hope Nance is back soon so we don't have to find out it takes to adjust but using last year isn't really being honest.

I love Shyatt and think he can lead us to the promised land, but CBI after CBI after CBI isn't cutting it. And just because Schroyer was terrible, and we are putting up about 20 wins per season now, doesn't mean that we can't be frustrated with lack of continued success and being frustrated at why we aren't taking this program to the next level yet.

I never expected next level yet. I was hoping for the success we have had and praying that we wouldn't stumble.

I assumed this was at minimum 6-8 year process of rebuild. Remember, when Shy came, we were among the laughingstock of the country. That had to be terrible for recruiting. It takes awhile to shed that image. Seniors in High School only know a Shy-led WYO; a solid and improving team. Recruiting will get better now that the foundation is nearly complete.

This is a continuation of Air Force. We are not playing defense and were beat before the opening tip mentally. This team, while certainly talented, devolves into an array of basket-cases way too easily. I thought we were mentally tough. AFA and SDSU would prove otherwise.

There is nothing tough about this team. ZERO. We fold against even moderate talent. There is no heart, no resolve, to fortitude. And we don't have athletes or shooters. Its a mixture that works fine against teams worse off than us, but against teams with a shred of talent or coaching and we are overmatched.

Is this why we've beat CSU (twice), UNM, Boise, and UNLV? Or are you just spouting off like normal when you feel pissed?
Sometimes I wonder if you are upset during threads or if maybe common sense eludes you at times.
I'm just as upset at our result last night, but i don't lose face.

And thought that our first few road games (SMU and cal) would gives us a good idea of just how good we really were. I did not really start buying in to this team until our run in the conference schedule. Actually whe we beat CSU at their place.

+1 amen brother! Has anyone on here played basketball before? Do you guys know what it's like to lose your star player mid season? I can tell you what happens. First your in shock and are trying to figure out how to fill the void. Everyone now has a new roll that they aren't used to. You get your ass handed to you for a bit because now your searching for those lost points. How many lost points? Well that depends. Is this your heart and soul offensive or defensive player? Oh both? Well that may be up to 20 points you've just lost right there combined on both ends of the court. Basketball is a 5 man game were 1 player makes a HUGE difference on all LEVELS of play. Take away an NBA superstar from a team and guess what? They might not even make the fucking playoffs! That's with mega talent paid for everywhere. This is college and we aren't a big time program yet. We just can't sustain the loss of our heart and soul star player yet even with our added depth. To be fair our depth isn't much but its better then nothing, which is where we found ourselves for how long? Since Mcclain's best year that's how long.

Believe what you want but I'm sure most teams coming off horrid seasons would start to struggle again, when their best player is kicked off for a bad brawl, or their best player goes down with a torn ACL, or their best player is out due to illness.

This is a continuation of Air Force. We are not playing defense and were beat before the opening tip mentally. This team, while certainly talented, devolves into an array of basket-cases way too easily. I thought we were mentally tough. AFA and SDSU would prove otherwise.

There is nothing tough about this team. ZERO. We fold against even moderate talent. There is no heart, no resolve, to fortitude. And we don't have athletes or shooters. Its a mixture that works fine against teams worse off than us, but against teams with a shred of talent or coaching and we are overmatched.

Is this why we've beat CSU (twice), UNM, Boise, and UNLV? Or are you just spouting off like normal when you feel pissed?
Sometimes I wonder if you are upset during threads or if maybe common sense eludes you at times.

I've maintained composure and called a few people out for "their actions".
If you really want to get technical, I was nice and quiet on this basketball board clear up to the SMU game.
Everyone else started talking NCAA tourney after starting 7-0. I actually questioned how good we really were. And thought that our first few road games (SMU and cal) would gives us a good idea of just how good we really were. I did not really start buying in to this team until our run in the conference schedule. Actually whe we beat CSU at their place.
Sunshine pumper? Self righteous? Or common sense? Really, you all can look up my posts. It was me and McPeach that agreed a few weeks ago that we may finish 24-7 at best with a chance at a run in the tourney. I stuck with 24-7.
We are 19-6 and everyone else gets butt hurt when we drop a game.
So take it however the hell you want. I will still defend this team, this coaching staff and myself for defending them, because I see progression in this program. And until I don't they have my support. Not constant bitching because we drop a game. I think we are on track to be where SDSU is now, down the road. I don't believe we are there yet, like most on here wish we were. That's the difference. Nothing self righteous about it.

Way to sidestep every point I made and focus on rationalizing the excuses for our yet again missing the NCAA tournament. Keep telling yourself that were a good team with bad luck. Boise has had bad luck and are looking like a real menace and could steal an at large or win it outright. Every team has extenuating circumstances, some win in spite of them, some let them define them and then bitch about it. I think I see what group we fit in.
