Wyo Offensive Struggles In Stats

Biggest problem with the O line is their communication. On a straight 4 man rush they do pretty well. However, throw in any stunts or blitzes and they're completely screwed.

This boils down to Logan Harris being a freshman. He blocks well, but he is not good at all at calling out blitzes and stunts.

We won't know what we have until the season progresses. Let's face it, we've lost to 3 big time programs that none of us would have bet the house on before the season that we'd beat. We played 2 really bad teams and beat them by 27 and 35 points. We played 2 comparable programs and we managed victories. So far this is probably exactly where we'd all thought we'd be, 4-3 with wins over the teams we beat and losses to the teams that beat us. Going forward we could win out or go 1-4, as the remaining teams are our level. These last games will show how we stack up in our conference. I feel we'll see mostly the same play calling, with better execution.
Horseshit rationalization. Oregon has won 1 game since they beat us. To get run off the field by a lower tier pac 12 team at home is pathetic. Hawaii and Utah state are bottom of the barrel in the MWC and we were outplayed by both of them. Thinking this team could win out is whistling past the grave yard. But I admire your optimism! I just look at these things through a gambler's eyes and see a team that has little chance unless we win the turnover and special teams battles by big margins.

Yep, Oregon beat one team since facing us, Cal, a team that then went on to beat a Top 10 team by 34 points. This is how the big programs work. For the most part they all have the talent and can beat one another up regularly. Oregon is in a down turn right now, but they, like most Power 5 teams, have the horses to beat up on the MWC teams. Hawaii and Utah State aren't the bottom of the barrel in the MWC, their right in the middle, with us, and it'll probably be where they both wind up, which is why I called them comparable programs. These type games is where we decide if we're back on suicide watch or treading water. I didn't say we will win out, but I wouldn't be surprised if we did. As a gambler, are you saying you had us somewhere besides 4-3 after the first seven games. I doubt it.

Yeah. I would have thought we would be 5-2, based on what I thought was going to be a better team this year than last. I thought the defense would be better, and it has. But I thought the offense would be better, given that Josh has an entire year under his belt and the Oline only lost 1 starter. But even if you think 4-3 is right where we should be, you can't ignore the way we got there. We could easily be 2-5. If we win more than 1 of our next 4 games, I'll eat crow, or whatever one eats when they completely miss it.

Interesting side notes about total o rankings since 04. I know JG took over 1 year earlier but stats since 04 were more convenient to look up.

Joe Glenn took over and had his highest ranked O in 2004. It got progressively worse every year to 08.

DC started low and ended with his best which was ranked slightly higher than Glenn's 04 squad.

Bohl has had the highest and on track for the lowest ranked Os in that time; this year and last.

Year 4 was Glenn's worst of his tenure until the next year.
Year 4 was also a dramatic step back for DC but much improved the following.

Removing the best year for each coach and average ranking for Glenn (4 years) 95.5; DC (4 years) 88.5; Bohl (2.5 years but, unless O magically gets light years better this number won't change much at end of 3) 109.

It is Friday, sue me.
