Wyoming uses second-half push to escape Utah State

In a game where his freakish athleticism caught the attention of the nation, his name momentarily trending on Twitter in the United States late in the second half, Adams finished with a team-high 19 points, six assists and four rebounds.

"It's a great feeling to be competing against the best guys out there," Adams said. "This conference is stacked. Every team is solid. It's honor just to be out there, in the fight for your teammates, against another team that's all-in as well."

Boise State men's basketball takes care of business against Air Force

UP NEXT: WYOMING

The only Mountain West team Boise State did not beat in the regular season is the one it has on deck.

"We have to start better … but we need to get stops. (Wyoming) is physical, and we didn't play our best defense at times," Heyer said.

Wyoming coach Larry Shyatt said of the Broncos, "They've really collected themselves defensively. I think they're the best defensive team in this league."

Wyoming men's basketball notebook: Hankerson picks good time to find offensive rhythm (WyoSports.net)

“Against the better teams in our league, we need five or six guys contributing,” Shyatt said. “We need (Hankerson) to score some points and Cooke to get 10 rebounds. We’ve been pretty steady on defense (all season). It’s been the times when we didn’t have everybody contributing in different ways on offense.”

Boise State gets past Air Force to advance to Mountain West semis

But Boise State has plenty of business still to take care of first. Wyoming recorded a 65-54 win over Boise State in Laramie, Wyoming, and stands between the Broncos and Saturday night’s championship game.

The Cowboys also had a big crowd advantage in Thursday’s win over Utah State and figure to make tonight’s game against Boise State feel like a Wyoming home game.

“That’s an interesting matchup,” Rice said. “That was two and a half months ago. It seems longer than that.”

Wyoming-Boise St. Preview

"We're two games away from reaching the NCAA tournament. If that's not enough to keep these guys focused, I don't know what is," Nance said. "I do believe this team can do it."

Wyoming certainly knows it can beat Boise State. The Cowboys shot 53.7 percent from the field in the first meeting, but the Broncos have held opponents to 41.4 from the floor in the 16 games since.

Vorel: Wyoming's Hankerson perseveres through slump, shines in victory

“This is my first Mountain West Tournament, and it was just an incredible atmosphere," Hankerson said. "Wyoming fans really came out in full force tonight. We just want to make them proud.”

"I think it’s his teammates that supported him more this year, and they knew that, ‘Look, it’s coming. We need you. Just put the pressure on your defense and forget about your O right now.’" Wyoming coach Larry Shyatt said.

Wyoming's McManamen hits 3-pointer to send Cowboys to conference title game

"I did not call bank, but a couple guys on the bench called bank after I shot it," McManamen said after the game with a grin. "I guess that counts."

"I'm just happy for these five guys that are a year ahead of me, that I've had the privilege to spend three years with," Adams said of Wyoming's seniors. "I know they've wanted this for a long time, worked their tails off for us. I'm just glad to be a part of it, glad I could do something to propel them to that spot."
