Maybe scheduling so many games so quickly in the beginning of the season will pay off in a week. Just need 3 wins in 3 days. Come on Pokes.

Vorel: Shyatt is right coach to continue building Wyoming's program

http://trib.com/sports/college/wyom...cle_114103b1-5d7c-531e-8ec3-177891dd35b7.html

I know some have questioned whether Shyatt is the guy to take Wyoming basketball to the next level, but I think he definitely has this program going the right direction. I remember the Moe Radovich years (4-22, 10-16, 10-17), the Joby Wright days (14-14, 13-15, 14-15, 12-16) and wonder boy Heath's debacle that I won't even list. So, to have folks suggesting a coaching change when the Pokes are 22-8 makes me wonder. While I'm not a fan of the Pokes playing in the CBI again, I also know that the season isn't over quite yet. Here's to a win in NM, and 3 wins in the MWC tourney.

Wyoming loss seems to have been turning point for Lobo basketball

QUOTABLE: Coach Neal was asked Thursday whether he thought winning Saturday was important in terms of building momentum before next week’s Mountain West Tournament.

“We’re trying to win every game,” Neal said. “It’s not like we’re throwing games to get a lottery pick.”

i watched his presser he really looked excited to be there, hence i think the losses have taken their toll and we'll get this one in ABQ this weekend....glad i'm making the trek to see it live, should be fun

Vorel: Wyoming's Nance, Adams look to make offensive impact at New Mexico

The Cowboys are hoping, with one game left in the regular season before the beginning of the Mountain West Tournament, that Nance and Adams merely provided a preview of things to come.

“It’s very dangerous," Adams said of their two-man game. "You can run the pick and roll. You can cut off Larry and dive off Larry when he gets doubled. I can drop the ball off to Larry when I draw two on the drive.

"There’s just a ton of options."

“We have to go in with the mindset that we’re not going to go down without a fight,” said Adams, who is averaging 21.4 points over the last five games. “(New Mexico) is a great team, a great staff, and everything about their program is great. We have to have the mentality that it’s going to be a dogfight, like it was here.”

Cowboys hope adversity strengthens them in Mountain West Tournament

“Experience is most important in the first eight minutes and the last eight minutes," Adams said. "You have to come out and jump on teams and punch them in the mouth, so to speak.

"Then in those last eight minutes, when it gets to crunch time and you’re up by 20 or you’re up by four, you have to come in and settle down and finish out the game, regardless of what it is.”

I'm ok with all these Shyatt rebulidng the program, but when when when do we get over that proverbial hump?? that's my question!!!!

Cowboys beat MW quarterfinal foe a week ago (WyoSports.net)

“This is a neutral site, so it’s about how we prepare,” junior guard Josh Adams said. “It will be about the team that comes out and plays smarter and who wants to win the game more.”

“The biggest thing from our second game (with Utah State) was holding them to 53 points,” senior forward Larry Nance Jr. said. “That’s the top three things on our list. They’re a team that takes pride in running their sets, and we’re a team that takes pride in stopping teams from running their sets.”

Hearing that Mike Vorel may be moving on. To be expected, he has a long bright future in bigger markets, but will be a big loss for UW coverage if true.

UW-Utah State men's basketball Q&A with Shawn Harrison of the Logan Herald Journal (WyoSports.net)

"I don't know if there is an advantage or disadvantage. I know the Aggies are really upset with the way they played last Wednesday. They keep saying that they must redeem themselves and are glad to play the Cowboys again. I would think Wyoming has to be confident, having won so easily. But I will borrow a comment from Utah State coach Stew Morrill, nothing in the past really matters this week. It all comes down to the team that gets hot for the next three or four days. The Cowboys and Aggies are both capable of making a run."
