Fresno State men’s basketball: Plenty to clean up, and be wary of, at Wyoming

With Nance sidelined with mononucleosis, out the past four games, Adams has averaged 16.8 points and 43 assists, including 22.0 points over the past two games.

In a victory at Nevada last out, the junior scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half, scoring off the dribble and getting to the foul line to lead the Cowboys back from a 14-point halftime deficit.

“He just took over,” Fresno State coach Rodney Terry said. “He willed that team to a win.”

Nance Jr. returns as confident Cowboys host Bulldogs (WyoSports.net)

“Some of those were open shots (Fresno State took), so we were very fortunate they didn’t make some of those,” Shyatt said. “We shot very poorly, and shot poorly in key situations at the free-throw line, which is unique to this team.

“I’ve not seen a lot of changes (from Fresno State). They’re playing a lot better defensively. They’re going to come in with a chip on their shoulder, and should. We will have to play one of our better games.”

Added Cooke: “We know Fresno is a really gritty team. It’s going to be a battle for us, especially to defend guys who can shoot.”

Wyoming runs through Utah State on memorable Senior Night

It was Senior Night, and a bustling student section came prepared. Wyoming's five seniors -- Larry Nance Jr., Derek Cooke Jr., Riley Grabau, Charles Hankerson Jr. and Jack Bentz -- were the toasts of the evening, with an adoring sign to match each individual party.

"Pride of Miami: Hankerson."

Nance, Wyoming roll to 76-53 win over Utah State

"We didn't come out with any energy," said Utah State's Jalen Moore. "We were just dull the whole game … [and] didn't really guard anybody."

Coach Stew Morrill agreed.

"They just dominated the game," he said. "They played really well and we were flat. We didn't have any energy. I really have no explanation for it other than the fact they were excited for their Senior Night. … They just played really, really well."
