“Basketball-wise, there’s always something you can do better,” coach Larry Shyatt said. “We’ve got to work against ourselves and opponents’ defense more.

“(We need to) look at what people are doing to us defensively and then try to emulate that and see if we can do a little bit better offensively.”

Wyoming uses stifling defense to remain undefeated inside Arena-Auditorium

"We know with winter break everybody was going home and there wasn't going to be a lot of fans here," junior guard Josh Adams said. "But [Southern] was still going to bring it. They still want to win games. So we had to have the same mentality.

"I told these guys going into the game, 'We have to protect our home court. We're 10-0 on the home court.'"

COAST TO COAST

Wyoming senior forward Derek Cooke Jr. brought the crowd to his feet in the second half when he grabbed a rebound, dribbled around the defenders, traveled the length of the court and dunked with one hand while also being fouled.

Cooke -- a 6-foot-9 senior forward -- has done something similar several times this season.

“In my eyes, I’m a point-forward. That’s what I see myself as,” Cooke joked during interviews.

Sitting next to him, junior guard Josh Adams smiled and added, “Everybody thinks he’s joking when he says that. He’s actually dead serious.”

Wyoming could be shorthanded for final nonconference game (WyoSports.net)

Tonight’s final nonconference game for the University of Wyoming men’s basketball team isn’t as much about the opponent, but who will be available to play for the Cowboys.

Coach Larry Shyatt said Monday that senior starting guards Riley Grabau (hamstring) and Charles Hankerson Jr. (foot), along with redshirt freshman backup forward Alan Herndon (acid reflux), are questionable for tonight’s game at Montana State, which tips off at 7 at Worthington Arena in Bozeman, Montana.
