Wyoming's Nance named Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year

Wyoming senior forward Larry Nance Jr. was named the Mountain West Conference's Preseason Player of the Year, the conference announced Tuesday. The Cowboys were picked to finish sixth in the Mountain West.

Nance -- a 6-foot-8, 235-pound senior forward -- averaged 15.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game last season in 26 games. His season ended on Feb. 18, when he tore his ACL in a 72-66 victory over Fresno State. Despite his injury, Nance was named to the All-Mountain West First Team following his junior season.

Cowboys picked sixth in MW preseason poll; Nance named preseason Player of the Year

University of Wyoming senior forward Larry Nance Jr. was voted the Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year while Wyoming was picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll in a vote by the conference media.

Nance, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound senior forward, was a first-team All-MW selection in 2013-14 despite suffering a season-ending knee injury that caused him to miss the final five games of the Cowboys' conference schedule. At the time of his injury, he led the team and ranked among league leaders in MW-only games in points (14.5), rebounds (7.8), defensive rebounds (6.5), field goal percentage (50.4), steals (1.7), blocks (2.8) and minutes played (37.9).
