Writing on the Wall

If our defense goes from "atrocious" to "mediocre," we have a team with a winning record. It'll improve our offense as well, since we likely won't have to drive the full field every time we want to score. If the defense can go to "average," then we can arguably make top 25.

I still vastly prefer actually being able to put up a 3-4 touchdowns per game as opposed to averaging 11 points, where some of those come from the defense. At least we CAN come from behind to win. In the Glenn era, as soon as we fell behind, there was no reason whatsoever to keep watching, as we knew we couldn't score.

I'm willing to wait to see what a difference it'll make to have a bunch of red-shirted players come in. Both of our lines have not been good enough up to this point, and frankly, the success of a team starts in the trenches.

Is the Idaho job still open I will gladly write Chris Tormey a glowing reference letter?

There's no way Tormey won't leave if given the opportunity and maybe that's a good thing as DC and CT being head coaches maybe that's our problem. We need a good proven DC hungry to change things and on his way to HC himself

Stability IS an issue for us in finding a head coach
We either get a dud-and agonize over how long to keep them because we need stability
or we get a stud and they are off to bigger and better things

One option for us is the "Joe Paterno" method of program direction. (without the obvious horrific character issues)

Get someone like Roach or Tiller to be the team exec coach. Someone that loves Wyoming, is mature and level headed, honest, has a passion for excellence, and will work relatively cheap.
and spend the big $$ attracting promising Coordinators and coaches on their way to HC gigs
