Worst performance I can ever remember.

That was a joke of a game. We looked asleep and gave a crap effort. I understand having an off shooting night but they played sloppy lazy D and shot WAY too many threes way to early. Gilmore should have quit launching at 0-6. What a joke. We are going to get destroyed by the rest of the league if we play anything remotely like tonight. I am sure the crowd at the AA will be crappy now. So frustrated. This may have exposed us as the team we really are with no depth at the guard and 2 spot.

I can remember some that are worse (one of McClain's teams absolutely laying down at home to Utah, the AFA game after the UNM Brawl suspensions, etc.), but this is right up there.

So the Pokes have a really bad game, which if we're all being honest with ourselves, was probably to be expected given everything that's gone on the last 3 or 4 days in the basketball program. Give them a little time to regroup and I'm sure coach Shyatt will get things turned around. maybe there is some mental thing for the men's basketball team at Fresno, they still have yet to win a game there.

I seriously doubt there is anything mental about playing in fresno with this team considering no one on the team has ever played @fresno, with the exception of leonard when he was at usc, and I am not even sure they played fresno.

Really bad stuff tonight. Pokes are in full redemption mode now. Everyone is of this belief that this team will crash and burn now.......gotta stay motivated and get ready for the next one.

While I appreciate your optimism, we stepped on the rake. Again.

Bad game and I am of your thinking as well. Can't believe everyone is bailing on the team.

I'll throw my 2 cents worth in. That is probably the worst offensive performance I've listened to. Just can't fathom the poor free-throw shooting. That 7-20 is a bit misleading actually since quite a few of those misses were the front end of a 1-1. I don't know why Gilmore was in there as long as he was. Honestly, he was contributing nothing. I will still be there Saturday. When you get bucked off the horse bad, a cowboy always gets back in the saddle. But Saturday is going to be a critical game for the Pokes. Do they pull together, or do they fall apart? Its going to take 110% effort from every player.

Damn, this 14-2 team can't catch a break. It was a bad loss...but only our 2nd of the year. Anyone predict we'd only have two losses at this point? I didn't think so. There were time we had 3 true freshman on the court last night...two of whom don't have a lot of PT. If nothing else, we're getting more players involved.

It will take a better effort on Saturday, but if the Pokes come to play they can get the "W".

Go Pokes!!

the way i see it this team needs a team only meeting, figure out what they want to do and start pounding it in down low, get the other team in foul trouble and finish at the rim. I'm getting tired of them missing point blanks then wanting the glory from 3. if it's not working don't keep doing it, try to find new ways to score. Larry needs to stop being so tenative and score the ball, and Derek Cooke needs to start scoring more. Take the leash off Josh and let him penetrate as much a possible. Leonard's Leonard he'll be fine. Derrious, streaky should be ok. Riley, streaky and seems to lose confidence easy. Sobey find your role on the team and get it done. I know it's going to take a ton of energy on Saturday, but everyone's correct this is the make or break game for this team. We know we can do it, get them in foul trouble and play that stiffing D and make them make mistakes. I'm not off the wagon and never will be, if anyone told you at the beginning of the seaon going into the SDSU game we'd be 14-2 ANYONE WOULD TAKE THAT. We had a bad night, that happens, if they hit those 13 missed FT's we're tied going to OT. We still held them to 49 points, I'm not sold on Fresno, they caught us on a bad night. It's time to see where we want to go from here, if it's a conference championship then lots of changes need to be made, if we want to remain a middle of the pack team then nothing needs to be done. I'll be there in Laramie in full throat, SDSU is used to wild crazy crowds that they play in front of, but if ever our Pokes need us more than ever. It's time to put the Luke thing to sleep for awhile, understand he's not coming back, circle the wagons and hold serve at home. I can't wait and hope the students are ready for as big a game to come to the AA in many many years. GO POKES, we'll get thru this, like always!!!!

I said before the game that this was a must win. I guess the Pokes must not have felt the same way. My shitty city league basketball team shoots better than the Cowboys did last night, and we are pretty awful.

Wyoming better put this behind them and be ready to get down to business Saturday. If this is the team that shows up against San Diego State we're in for a long night, and they will lose my ticket money for the rest of the season.

No team should EVER shoot less than 80% from the stripe. Free throws will win or lose games for you. There's a reason they're called free throws, they're a FREE SHOT! No one in your face, no worrying about coming in too fast, just set and shoot. These guys are high level division one college basketball players. There is absolutely NO reason they should shoot less than 80% from the line as a team!
I posted this in the Illinois State thread, and I'm going to reiterate it now. 7-20 from the charity stripe is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! We missed out on at LEAST 13 points last night (I say at least because a LOT of those misses were the front halves of a 1 and 1). Yes, we shot poorly from the field, but if you're 35% from the free throw line you lose every game. They'd better clean this up and do it in a hurry.

Here's an idea: Instead of going to the bar and closing it down, maybe the players should hit the gym and SHOOT SOME FUCKING FREE THROWS!

This is exactly how I see it, You have Cooke and Sobey who were both at the bar with Martinez. If that was my friend and teammate I wouldn't have my head in the game either. I would be thinking about why I didn't stop him or why I didn't hold him back. Now that is just 2 people from the team. If the team is together as a team there wee more people that weren't emotionally or physically there and I can't blame them at all.

I'm not bailing on the team by any means but what started as a great season IMO would be spoiled by this and it will have big enough effects that we will find ourselves finishing 6th exactly where we wee picked to finish. We could steal a game or two from the teams ahead of us but we are just as likely to drop a game or two to teams below us.

We are crushed at depth now and we have basically no three point threat on the team. Regardless how bad this season could end after how amazing it started is the fact that 2 years ago the majority of us would have been happy to end the season with 14 wins. We have a long way to go while I don't think we can salvage on NCAA bid I do think we will be in the NIT which is still 100% better than we have had like 10 years.

Don't bail on this team because they are going through a hard time with a teammate. You have to let them over come it but you also have to understand that if he was your friend you would most likely perform the same way while his life was on the line.

Those FG % and FT % are completely unacceptable.

With that being said (as I mentioned in another thread), for what this team is going through right now, I can't imagine a bigger distraction. I am hopeful they will begin to gel better as a team.

SDSU will be a tough game to win, but you never know.

Yeah, bad loss. But like some of you, I can see why they wouldn't have their heads in the game at all with what's going on. Because from everything I've seen and heard, the whole team is like a family, and when one is facing serious charges that could ruin the rest of his life because of something stupid he did, yeah, that would have a profound effect. But they can't let it keep them down, or else this season will end up looking like a Schroyer season.

When it was clear in the end (last 3-4 minutes) that the Pokes were toast, Shyatt should have cleared the bench. Sure, there would probably have been a bigger score spread, but at least maybe a message would be sent.

To be clear. I was not declaring that I was giving up on the team. Just really frustrated at the lack of effort I saw that night. Obviously there were distractions, there are always distractions but that was beyond ugly. Doesn't mean I was not watching the SDSU game by myself in a bar full of Louisville fans. Screaming my head off like a crazy person. I have been a fan since I was about 5 in 1980!! So I have suffered through enough to bitch and complain once in a while. I love my Cowboys and do my share from out here in the East. I send money every year to CJC, I travel several times every year to games, subscribe to WyoVision and watch every game whether in a bar that has Directv, Wyo2dal stream or WyoVision. Proud of the Pokes for stepping up and bouncing back against SDSU have to give credit to Coach Shyatt and the guys.
