We're going nowhere until we find some post players with a pulse. It's baffling to me how teams like South DAkota State can pull post players out of their ass and we get guys like Barnes.
 
the reason I post this guy... is because he's a Phenom. not sure if we can get parker stewart, not sure about avea. but this kid is in the springs, where we have influence. we play in Colorado about 4 times a year. we have a springs recruit on roster. Josh adams may be the next Colorado pro and he is currently only about 50 miles away from the springs.

we would be absolutely stupid not to try and bring this talent in. he may end up being 6'7-6'8 next year... he is already a pro prospect. we need to recruit him, trust me. we can recruit another big... but not a player of this caliber.

I haven't even posted his elite camp videos, where he is killing folks in the post, and the elite campers are much bigger.

Barnes was a highly recruited player....much more so than the kid who went to South Dakota State. Sometime you hit and sometime you miss. This almost seems like a swing and miss.
 
Barnes was somewhat heavily recruited but only played basketball in HS for one or two years. He might not ever be a productive player at the D1 level because of the high learning curve. The returns so far don't look good but still plenty of time to turn that around.

The overall point that we don't have good bigs though is valid. We won a conference title with Nance and Cooke in the fold.
 
Wyoming needs a legit big down low that can at least if nothing else grab boards and play terrific defense.

I seriously doubt Wyoming will get Parker Stewart anyways and I don't really see the big deal with Avea. I also am not sold on Mueller either.

I think that Wyatt Yes kid looks legit and would be a good recruit but not sure we can grab him either.

I think our staff does a great job developing the players we get and gets a lot out of them but our recruiting seems to be going backwards a little bit in my opinion.

As far as Hunter Thompson goes I would say he got lots of his stats against Wyoming 2A competition which in reality is really shitty high school basketball but he did play Utah AAU and did well so he will probably end up being pretty good.

Hope Wyoming can recruit a couple of good big men that can do something. Honestly would like to see a couple of good JUCO big men honestly.
 
Is he a 2016 class recruit or 2017

I'm sold. This guy, bigby-Williams and Parker Stewart over the next few classes and keep James, moemeka, and noughton around and we've got a squad to put Herndon, Barnes, lieberman with.
 
Schwartz is a 2017 recruit. would be the same class as parker stewart. I'm not sure we are going to land parker stewart. we lose Jmac next year.

this kid is close to home. funding wise, this recruit makes more sense.

he is the best local talent, and I feel like we should extend offers to "best local talent".... if you aint trying you're dying

You need a good combination of both post players and guards who can shoot. I watched Colorado today and they had Josh Scott who's a very good big man but he had no shooters around him. Sure you need some bigs, but you have to have guys to space the floor.

A juco guy who I've watched some this year is Tyler Rawson out of SLCC he originally signed at SUU. I don't know if he'd consider us but he's 6'10 230 or so good athlete, good re bounder and jumper.

I just watched some highlights of his and at first I was thinking well he looks good against the guys he is playing against but not sure that would translate into a MWC type player that could make us better but I just noticed SLCC beat Gillette by 36 points in the semi finals of the national tournament and SLCC is playing for the National championship tonight. So maybe the kid would be a good pick up and could help us be better.

Rawson had 17 points 11 rebounds 3 assists 2 block shots and 2 steals

Bigby WIlliams of Gillete had 7 points 9 rebounds 0 assists 0 blocked shots and 0 steals.

Salt Lake won the game 83-47

Looks like he committed to Southern Utah out of high school but ended up going the JUCO route instead. Seems like he would have more offers. He is listed at 6'10 now and probably is about 230.

For the year he averages 15.7 ppg 8.2 Rpg 2.7 assists 1.3 steals 1.5 blocks pg.

Looks like he might be Mormon though after looking at it closely as he says his favorite sports moment is Jimmer Fredette's senior year and BYU beating San Diego St. so I doubt he would want anything to do with Wyoming. surprised BYU isn't recruiting him. Maybe they are though.

Not sure what offers he has now.

I just saw that the Rawson kid is being recruited by Boise St., Oregon St. , Utah St. ,Colorado St.

So basically every school we compete against is recruiting him but we apparently aren't . :lol:

Go Figure.
