Windfall from Air Force

We should be thanking Air Force. Because the Air Force game was picked up by ESPN 2, Wyoming will collect $500,000 in "bonus money." We certainly did not earn our way to this bonus money and hopefully we won't get completely embarrassed on National TV.

AF is a professional triple option team. Based on last weekend, I'd say two NCAA records are in jeopardy:

1) 1,021 yards in a game (Houston vs SMU)

2) Georgia Tech outscored Cumberland 220-0

OK, OK, #2 is safe until we play BSU.

Was that the game where Houston destroyed SMU, 95-21, in the early 90s?

You got it. 1990 I believe.

I just remember that record for some reason. I don't recall what the single game team rushing yards record is?

I honestly think that record is seriously on the line when we play AF.

We were both wrong. It was exactly October 21, 1989. SMU's first season of football after the two year Death Penalty.

If we play assignment football as poorly as we did against New Mexico, it could be unbelievably ugly. We failed miserably at the QB assignment.

 Dang, I thought for sure it was 1990, though I don't remember why I thought that.

Burman will be happy to put that money to good use and balance the budget with it in true Wyoming fashion lol

I'm definitely gonna try to put this game on at work and see how long it can play before somebody complains to watch something else. I'll always try to do my part of spreading the Pokes fever around the bay. Even if this fever right now is more of this variety :puke: :jack: :puke: :jack:

I mean what if...WHAT IF our only 2 wins this season are against the goddamn greenies????   I'm holding out my last ounces of hope for that. Man we looked atrocious against New Mexico...hold on........:puke: ok now I feel a little better

Now the entire country gets to watch Air Force run for 700 yards on us.

No. No need to. They run just enough to let the backs pad their stats. Running hurts. You get hit hard and get hurt.
AFA now sees the chance, at almost no risk, to work on its passing game against a weak rookie secondary.

In all fairness, it was most of the players first time playing against triple option. It's almost too bad we didn't take lumps against AF first and then come back a bit more seasoned against NM

Hey, y'all stop that now! That's when SMU had the teeny guys playing. The DP was for 1 year. SMU elected to not play in '88. The Pye Penalty was for decades.
The okay high school level SMU team of '89 was not BIG but they were SLOW. It was a team of "dwarves" with sagging pants and little and skinny arms etc. just like they tellya in Pony Excess.
