Why Wyoming Can Beat Nebraska [WyoNation Blog]

I have answered your question several times.

Yes, Martinez has improved from terrible (2011) to really bad (2012). Watch any highlight film from him for last year. He still throws off his backfoot often, cocks his body back, and keeps the ball way too low. These are facts and I wonder why you blindly support a QB who is a turnover machine because he can't master basic position techniques that most QB's learned in HS.

Because Brett Smith is the definition of good mechanics

Please stop this childish argument. Show me where anyone here has said Smith's mechanics are perfect? Yeah, that is right nowhere. So when someone points out the obvious about Taylor all you can do is deflect because you know you don't have a valid argument.

Do us a favor and retreat to your cornfield and wait for Bo and company to blow another season.

Oh. I thought we were arguing with hyperbole that wasn't actually true of either quarterback, judging by your "really bad" adjective for a BCS conference first-string quarterback. Silly me.

Just so we're on equal footing here - show me where anyone here has shown blind support for Martinez? Thanks in advance.

Taylor just started playing QB in his JR year in HS. Never before that.

Also, I have watched Taylor is every game he has played, he has improved significantly. Does he still occasionally throw off his back foot when he gets real pressured? Yeah, he has, but the majority of the time it looks ten times better than it did in 2011.

Haters gonna hate though.

I guess really bad QBs deserve 1st team all big ten honors.

Taylor is going to show Wyoming just how bad he really is.

It should be noted that Brett Smith was the 10th rated passer in QB ratings. Taylor Martinez was 40th, and that was the first B1G QB to appear on the list. The B1G wasn't exactly the conference of quarterbacks last season.. so yeah, he was 1st team All-B1G, but who else was there? Braxton Miller? Robert Marve?

Valid point.

Regardless, TM is not a terrible QB as most people here want to say. As I have said before, he is not a good pro style QB or NFL QB prospect, but he is a good spread/zone read QB.

Martinez makes his name with his feet, for sure. He'll be coaching after college.

I bet he gets a shot at the NFL at safety/WR but Im not sure how successful of a shot it might be.

Does Chad Smith know Martinez has improved over the last two years, much like Brett Smith has improved. Hopefully over the next two years, Mr. Smiths blogging skills will improve as well.

And our Stadium isn't called War Memorial. So hopefully your team doesn't show up at the wrong stadium on saturday! :thumb:

Actually that is a good catch on the stadium name.

You are wrong on martinez though he has upgraded from terrible to bad. He is a vanity QB who pads his stats against losing teams. Look at the splits.

And what do Smith's splits look like against good teams? How did he looks vs Nebraska, Fresno, and Boise? Really the only 3 teams worth a damn that he's played against the past two years. I look forward to coming back to this message board on Sunday and posting videos of Martinez owning that vaunted Wyoming defense with their big bad 253 pounds DT.

Good quarterbacks can manage to look solid despite playing with bad players.
Okay quarterbacks can look bad despite playing with great players.

I'm not sure why that's so difficult to grasp?

Edit: Also, why the hell are we arguing about who people should be rooting for? Last time I checked, this isn't North Korea.
