Who will be Wyoming's next DC?

He had a year where it was all on him and they didn't improve. Not to mention that tackling sucked. Thats on English and Tormey.

No he didn't. And we can argue it all day, but I know this for fact.

Still, his "bend but don't break" defenses often broke.

That was Dave's "bend but don't break" defense...that he instructed English to run. Oh, and at the same time, Dave took some of the best "D" players and made them switch positions to the "O" side of the ball. Nobody else remembers that? Or that he forced English to run a 4 - 3 defense when WYO was full of talented LB's and low on D Lineman? Nothing like turning 2 superstar stud LB's into DE's and fucking their careers up (Biezuns & Knapton)...because it was Dave's way or the highway.

And again, I am not saying English is the answer for D coordinator at WYO. But he is heads and tails above Stanard in all aspects.

Pretty much the story of the last 15 years for Wyoming defenses (except for Koenning era, they just broke altogether).

Mike Breske, 2006-2007 in particular. Very good defense. Offense was horrid, but they played solid D.

Yep, you're right....I should have said "much of the last 15 years". That defense ranked in the Top 25 statistically during that window.

Was DC out there coaching tackling skills? He deserves most of the blame for how shitty we were but English couldn't coach out of a paper bag. CSU only picked him up because they were getting beat out for almost all of the CO recruits. And you were there to witness DC telling English how exactly to run the defense? You can claim it as fact all you want but you are trying to pass hearsay off as fact.

Thats all well and good but English's less than stellar performance at CSU is all I need to know. He isn't a good coach. He may be a great recruiter, but his defense isn't much better than Sanards during his CSU tenure.

I think the jury is still out to be honest. This is year 2. And he has co-coordinator Al Simmons to share it all with. They certainly kicked our ass, and were more competitive defensively than we were.
