I'm sticking with the usual suspects - former WAC foes or teams that have been bandied about on the MWC board.

I'd love to see Boise State join the MWC. They seem to have found a way to build their football team into a perennial national contender, and they usually have a decent basketball team. I don't know how adding a 10th team to the conference would effect the scheduling and all of that, so there may be problems that I am overlooking. In my opinion, it would just strengthen the MWC's argument against the BCS. Just another team with the chance to be a BCS buster year in and year out. Doubt it will ever happen though.

Montana!

Wait, they're not on the list. Boise or Fresno for sure. I wouldn't even care which one, both are legitimate teams in football and in other sports.

Boise is the only team that fits in the MWC. Fresno is going backwards in all sports programs except Baseball. It will be any day now that more NCAA sanctions will be handed down to them.

Boise makes sense, beyond that, nobody. There is nothing "Mountain West" about Fresno, Hawaii, or Nevada.

Nothing MWC about SDSU either, but we still let them in.

I know, that's why many think the WAC should send BSU to the MWC and pick up either SDSU or UNLV.

You guys nailed it. I am a football fan, so I would welcome another quality football team like BSU and vote to dump SDSU. Swap the 2 teams. SDSU is better at basketball, baseball, just about everything other than football, so in reality it would probably be a bad move for the MWC; but football is my passion so I would welcome the Boise State Smurfs and dump the Aztecs.

For the record I think the Smurfs would be a second tier team like Air Force. They most likely wouldn't finish in the top 3 in the MWC, but still a very good team.

I think Hawaii should have been part of the conference from the beginning, just because of the history they have with so many of the MWC teams.

Plus we had a trophy series going with them.

I hate to break the news to you folks but If the MWC were to add Boise and wanted to boot a team from the conference to keep the numbers the same it would be us. Our athletic budget is very low and in the past ten years we have accomplished very little in terms of sports outside of a few good seasons in mens and womens basketball. To make matters worse Wyoming is a non-existent media market compared to SDSU (the team most want to boot on this board).

I know this statement is going to start a firestorm but dont shoo't the messenger. I am a Wyoming fan first and foremost and we better make the commitment (and by this I mean $$$$) to putting winning teams out there or we may get the boot in the future. I'm not going to count on CSU, AF, BYU, UTAH to fight to keeps us around if the MWC does indeed decide to boot a team in the future. The bottom line is we care more about them than they care about us.

With all that said, go ahead an rip me apart.......... :)

Would never happen Wicks. We are a core member and nobody will be kicking us out soon. Regardless of the last 10 years, of which we have a bowl victory and an NCAA tourney victory, we have earned our place. Plus, our budget isn't the lowest. Half full man.

Go Pokes!!

I agree with you Jimmy. I should have made it a bit clearer that I don't think it will happen but if it were to happen, I would be worried.

Wyoming has too much history with MWC teams to be booted. We have played:

Colorado State - 95 times
Utah - 79 times
BYU - 75 times
New Mexico - 61 times
Air Force - 47 times
SDSU - 30 times
UNLV - 17 times

It would be a shame to end all these series because a few Johnny Come Latelies can think about nothing else but a speculative automatic BCS bid. Compare that with WAC teams:

Utah State - 61 times
Hawaii - 20 times
San Jose State - 7 times
Fresno - 6 times
Idaho - 5 times
Boise State - 4 times
Nevada - 4 times
Louisiana Tech - twice
New Mexico State - once

The only significant history is with Utah State and Hawaii, and I've always felt like they got stabbed in the back ten years ago when the MWC was formed. Call me a traditionalist, but I strongly believe that history and tradition is just as much an important part of the game as bowls and the BCS.

Wyokie, I would love to play for the Paniolo Trophy again!

the first team i would want to join the mwc is Boise St. and not kick anyone out. every school has something important.

and if we couldnt get boise st, i would say houston, give tcu someone nearby, they field a solid football teams and basketball teams. im sure their other athletics are definitely competitive and its a pretty solid media area.

I have a lot of friends who root for the Warriors who would love to see series start again. Met them on Sports Hawaii.

I think Wicks has a valid point. If the MWC were to dump a team we would probably be on the short list. We do have great history with these teams but a change would be pushed by what have you done for us lately? I certainly wouldn't want to add Boise St for thier history against MWC teams, it would be for thier recent football success. We had a super conference (more than 9 teams) before with a conf champ game (Don't get me started on Tiller's last game) and we didn't like it. The only way I see us going back to that is if we are awarded an automatic bid into the BCS which won't happen.
