Where's Riley???

is it me or has he somewhat disappeared this year, doesn't look to interested in doing much this year, his head seems like he's truly not in it, we truly need him and his senior leadership?? I notice Josh running the point more, is that the issue. I love Riley, when he's on and it's time to heat up, even if it's not the 3, we'll take your 2's just as well. maybe i'm over critical but I sure hope he shows up against Boise big time on Saturday!!! i think Larry will get rested more than usual on Saturday, hope alls OK

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He's coming off an injury, and I'm not so sure that his shooting hand isn't hurt. I saw him shaking off some pain on his right hand last night after he caught a slightly awkward pass during the game. He may not be right out there. We'll see.

We all know how hot he can get. We'll be pretty tough to beat when he gets back to knocking down 3's.

If he does not show up soon we need to see a lot more of Lieberman. Like his game, just needs experience. Riley was awful last night. Hope he gets it together but I would spell him much more often with Lieberman.

Yeah, it definitely seems somethings up with him, although last year was the same story once conference season started, he vanished entirely. Since he missed the southern game with injury, he is shooting a crisp 11.8% from the field in the 4 games since. He has still been huge for us in the free throw department, but either he needs to rest a nagging injury to get right, or simply get his head in the game, cause lately he can't hit the broad side of a barn.

I would like for him to drive the ball and draw the foul more too. If you are that good at free throws, dare them to foul you.

Hopefully Lieberman and not Bentz.

Bentz logged 6 minutes last night...just amazes me. 1 steal, 1 TO, 1 foul. One of his better efforts. ;)

Help is on the way. Lieberman will be a year older (and more comfortable) and Conway will bring much more speed, quickness and athleticism to both ends of the court next year.

Right now, Pokes just need to keep grinding. Papa Shy is the man. #Discipline

He's waaaaaay too slow to penetrate and draw fouls. He was awful last night. I was glad Jason Mac was in during crunch time. Time to cut back Grabau's minutes. He does not make shots in conference play and he's really not much of a play maker. Let Adams run the point and play McMannaman as the 2 guard. Lieberman is also too slow and small to be out there.

I think he has regressed every year at Wyoming, personally. I don't think he should start anymore. I think Jason Mac should get a look as a starter.

AGREED 110%, if that's your weapon use him effectively, GET TO THE LINE, maybe that's a good thought, he should maybe come off the bench and let Jason start???

You are probably right. But I don't think it will happen (barring injury). He will start but may be pulled early if he isn't in the game. But I think he will start.

You guys should lay off Riley "Silent Splash" Grabau. Don't forget this kid has just been a warrior for us for 4 YEARS!!! I don't care if he has bad game or is going through some things. This dude is a fucking gamer. He's been a HUGE part for us being in the position we're in right now. How many games this year have started off with him hitting some big 3's to set the tempo? He helped us ICE San Jose on the road. How quickly we forget...... :willybs:

Anyone on this team that sees the court has earned it. Even bentz I'm sure. Riley will be playing as long as Shyatt thinks he should be and you know what? I think Shyatt knows more then me about this team.

SHYATT HAPPENS!!!!

His shot has been off lately but he still runs the offense efficiently(CSU he had some turnovers he usually doesn't have) and is automatic from the line. I'm great with him out there. HIs shot will come around we know he can hit it. He should attempt to draw more fouls and get to the line more often.

+1

You don't just pull the plug on a senior going through a slump for a freshman who hasn't experienced places like the T&M, The Pit or The Show in SD, 3 games into MWC play.
In 3 seasons Lieberman may be much better but in 3 days? Hell no.

Hey Cosmic, I know who he is and what's he's about, I'm just expecting a bit more outta a Senior leader, he really hasn't shown as much as last year by far and you know it as well, he just disappears at times and looks like he's not into it as much as I'd like to see outta my Seniors that's all....i know about the Warrior stuff etc...and 3's he "supposed" to hit, they just haven't come as lately, trust me I rarely forget a player unless I need to and I don't need to "forget" Riley....thanks

PS I'm not saying to "pull" him I just want experience and leadership and production that's all or maybe coming off the bench might be an answer, that's all......been a Brown and Golder, longer than most of you have been alive I'm sure, don't get so butt hurt when I state my opinion here

While I certainly agree with your sentiment about Riley...personally...I think he runs the floor / team better than anyone on the roster. He is a true court general, and his impact is much greater than the stat line or ppg.

NOW, that said. Bentz is a turnover, airball, or foul waiting to happen. I cringe when he goes in. Great guy though, and I love him like a brother.

Bentz was out of position on every single exchange last night. There was a direct correlation to when the rams would make their runs last night, Bentz was on the floor and would be out of position and gave up "momentum" plays like wide open drives or wide open threes. I appreciate his time given to the program but he has no business playing at this level.

I watched the game back, and a couple of Riley's turnovers were just plain bad. I HATE to see a Senior point guard making those crappy passes at the top of the key during crunch time. Reminded me of Derious "Shave"more at times.

That being said, I think Riley still gives us the best chance, night in, night out, of getting the win. He is our best floor coach, has good enough handles, and usually makes better decisions than he did last night. I was sure wishing at the end that he hadn't fouled out, just for the free throws!
