Where are the fundamentals and discipline?

After witnessing in person that debacle last night at War Memorial I am left pondering a few things. First, I did not expect the Pokes to win. I figured we would get thumped. That being said I did suppose we could hang with them for a while.....ala Texas. Instead what I saw was a team that continued to shoot themselves in the foot. The foolish penalties abound last night. Tackling was not good with many many missed tackles. The offensive play calling seemed quite routine and uncreative. I wonder.....do we have a coaching problem?

Yes, Boise State was likely the best team the Poke will see this year, but, the fundamentals, discipline and execution by the Pokes was terrible. This game should not have been as ugly as it was!

The false starts were terrible last night.. WAY too many false starts, considering the players are told the snap count in the huddle. That needs to be addressed right away. Perhaps some running of the stairs at the War would help those penalties go away.

We aren't doing the basic things you learn in youth football. Granted, some guys are good at making people miss tackles but we may them look better than they should. I was watching our defense last night and noticed none of them really wanted to come up and put the hit on someone, other than Prosinski. We need guys who want to punish the ball carrier and make them pay if the want to advance the ball.

"When the going gets tough, the tough get going". John Wayne. Until these players learn this basic principle of life, with regards to playing good teams or dealing with tragedy in their lives, we can expect similar performances as the one in the bsu game.

7(!) unforced errors in the first 6 1/2 minutes of the game. That pretty much sums up the game Saturday.

Ouch. And against a team like Boise...that is difficult to overcome. I don't know what the deal was, but we looked horrific, worse that I have seen UW play in a long time (bWHYu last year maybe).

It seems lately, UW football is great at shitting the bed, when the place is packed.
