Kind of miss the open practices that CDC had. I just hope the new tribune writer is as enthusiastic about Cowboy athletics as Vorel was.
CDC did not have open practices. He was actually infamous for how closed off they were.

I believe that Mr. Holmgren said his first day isn't until the 20th. Hopefully someone else will be picking up the slack until then.

Not true, his last year they were all wide open to the public. Even the scrimages were open. I went to at least four practices and two scrimages with my kids. His previous seasons were closed, but he changed things up when he took over the play calling duties. As I recall he was getting a lot of heat for being so detached from the community.

Agreed. Some years he was very open and other years he had closed practices but never more closed than Bohl's. All of the scrimmages were always open and he always had at least the same first 30 minutes policy that Bohl now does. It is kinda funny that people were up in arms about DC's closed practices but Bohl comes in and has the same or worse policies and it is fine. Not trying to defend DC as a coach but always thought some of the things people gave him shit for were silly.

I personnally have no problem with closed practices. If thats what a coach wants to do then thats his choice. I had no problem when DC did it either.

Some still bitched about Bohl's closed practices. Not as many that whined when DC first closed his practices...but there were moaners.

Because DC is the devil and Bohl is a GOD. Don't ya know?

Not sure why people get so butt hurt over something like this. This tactic is becoming (or already is) the norm at the majority of FBS schools in the country. Get used to it old timers because open practices aren't coming back.

People on here will defend Bohl to death like he brought those 3 National Championships he has to Wyoming and scold DC like he did more damage to the program than Koenning.

The only thing that really pissed me off about DC, was getting in Thompsons ear about leaving. He did take us to two bowl games.

Talking Thompson into leaving was a snake move. We would have gone bowling last year with Thompson as our QB.

I don't know anything but I heard some rumors that it was more Jason Gesser who pushed Thompson to transfer hoping that their relationship and his working with DC would parlay him into the QB coach job at Utah. It didn't work out that way. I do know Thompson and Gesser were really close so this rumor sounds plausible to me but I have no idea.

I can believe that rumor. Gesser is now working at his Alma Matter Wazzu in the athletic department. I don't think he has coached since being on DC's staff.

I believe he could have tried to ride the talent and relationship of Jason Thompson into a job at Utah.
