What UW needs to do for Wyo BB

the student sections biggest problem is that the front rows don't start the chants and the back rows did. It needs to work its way up, not its way down

Very true, that is when it usually works the best.

Where can a person find the info on the AA renovation plans? I personally have not seen anything about it and would love to look it over. Some help would be greatly appreciated.
Here you go http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/wyo/genrel/auto_pdf/2012-13/misc_non_event/2012_facilities_masterplan.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; If the link doesn't work just go to the athletic website and under the facilities page it has a facilities master plan, you will have to scroll down a ways to get to the AA section.

After going through the renovation plans I see a lot of what I would like to see for the AA, The reduction of 5k seats and a true video booth which should also support online broadcasting which we just don't have right now.

Current AA outside view.

Must say I'm pretty impressed with the concept new outside view of the AA.

Current AA inside, I forgot how plain and old it really looked.

Concept of the AA inside I really like, It would be nice to see that on TV vs what we currently see.

With a scoreboard like that hanging down which is the overall game plan once they strengthen the dome structure I can't wait to see this all come into play.

From what I have heard, they may not go with the hanging scoreboard because they can't strengthen the roof enough without rebuilding it and that would be too costly. I think they will have video scoreboards on all 4 sides of the arena above the seating though.

I like the fact that it's on 3000 and not 5000 I think it is awesome having one of the bigger arenas and I think we are going to be able to pack the place

Agree completely 15k might be a little too much, but I like the sense of pride that we have one of the bigger arenas and i think 12k will be a perfect fit for us.

They have so much landmark event staff at each of these games, they should put them to use doing something useful, like checking tickets. Once they get the staff doing that, they should start printing out pink slips or something that you can buy on gameday for like $5.00 or something. The Pink tickets only get you access to the upper concourse of the AA.

That should help sell some seating.

Guess I am old school. I went/go (no longer season ticket holder so only attend select games) to games to see and encourage the product on the floor. Smoke and light shows didn't/don't do much for me. I was probably more attracted with the idea that it might be a good competitive game.
If you want outside the box/visionary thinking about improving the AA. How about maybe padded, reclining, vibrating seats with individual HD TV screens at each seat and individual earphones so spectators can adjust the sound level to an individuals choice (that way some of us don't have to cover our ears when the announcer is screaming into his microphone). Also, maybe heated tunnels from the parking lot/lots to the arena entrances with moving walkways so we need not expend our energy or freeze or blow away on our way into the arena. I know, these are way outside the box but then as I say, I am old school; don't think we need to downsize the seating capacity of the arena (heck, wasn't it a sellout a few years ago for the women's NIT?) but bring in good competition and maybe the seats would begin to be full. It isn't something that is going to happen overnight as TB and Heath did a pretty good job of downgrading our BB program (IMHO).

downgrading seats is going to do a couple things, it won't make the place look as empty,it will be easier to fill up, and it is gonna make the arena look more attractive... Both bball coaches say practice is too hard because we have 4 hoops and it makes for 4 courts that are about 1/4 of a normal size if that. They need to do the renovation for practice purposes alone! The boxes where seats will be removed will help with tv broadcasts, presidents box etc. It is all about having great facilities, it will help with recruiting. 12,000 is still a very very big arena, but it will look "sexier"

+1 on everything I think 12k is perfect for us

Everything I have found leads me to believe it will be between 10-12.5K but there is no number that has been specifically decided on at this point it's just a little too early. 10-12k imo is perfect as long as they make sure that they don't leave empty spots at all.

Does "old school" also mean that you don't cheer and glare at the young whipper snappers for making too much noise? Yeah, those 3k seats sure have come in handy the last 20 years. They might have had one ass in them the whole time.

I also like having one of the bigger arenas in the nation outside of Utah. That is way I do not like the idea of going to the relatively small-time 12,000. I have been in the little 8,000-10,000 arenas and they do feel like they are second-rate after being in a completely-filled AA.

15,000 was always a nice size when the team on the floor was really a show and not just another also-ran.

Agreed with all of this. Most of our competition has separate practice facilities. This is pretty much the minimum we need to do to be competitive.

This is the one part of the renovation plan I don't get. I always assumed that the team practiced at Half acre gym. At least I remember stories of players breaking backboards there when I was in school. Wouldn't a seperate practice facility make more sense than pouring millions into changing the floor of the AA? Especially when the side effect is fewer seats that are further from the court. (At least that's what it looks like in the concept drawings.)

You thought that the team practiced at half acre? How long has it been since you've been on campus?
