They are announcing the new coal industry stadium name at the game is my guess.
But as you point out, it’s a partnership game with the Wyoming Mining Association.

I don’t mind it. I’m not sure the long-term value in terms of coal donating much to the program (if anything considering the recent “fraction of 1 penny” per ton bonus offered for the coal tract in MT), but it is a smart play to try to massage the Freedom Caucus’ happy spot. Given the prominence state funds play at UW, it’s pretty smart - and I don’t think anything UW does is ever smart.

I didn't think that they would wear a one-time, promotional uniform for The Border War. UNI or San Jose St, why not. The premiere game of the season, not so much.

unrelated, but this would have been a political no no, even four years ago. Trump has changed the conversation about energy and climate change. Thank goodness. Hopefully we get that coal terminal built in Oakland and we see a resurgence of the coal industry. Lord knows we need it since we’ve apparently decided we don’t need nuclear

I'd rather the coal company just dump a ton of money into NIL rather than these uniforms. Maybe that'll be happening, I don't know.
Unfortunately, global markets are signaling that a resurgence in coal is not in the cards. My guess is that we see continued, gradual declines in production for the next decade that ends with most mines being closed or only marginally productive. No matter which side of the debates over fuel sources you are on, markets work and they are cold and dispassionate about most anything that isn't tied to ROI, cost of operations, and certainty.
