Starters: Grabau, Adams, Sobey, Cooke, Nance. Pace more uptempo this season.

Is that official or just a guess?
What about Hankerson? He might be the most talented player on the team.

Not "official". But not just a guess either (assuming no injuries or real breakthroughs in the next three weeks). Let's see who shows up Oct 31 and what the pace looks like.
Now way in hell that is the starting lineup. Hankerson and Granberry will be on the court.

Who names a starting five at the beginning of camp? That would be kind of stupid. I imagine the three weeks of practice leading up to the first game might have something to do with who takes the floor on opening night.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the starting five for some of the games, but I would expect either Granberry or Hankerson to start, if not both of them.

Cooke and Sellers redshirting at a juco, still isn't red-shirting at a major school.

You basically called me a liar and when I provided the factual info behind my comment, this is your response?

You said basketball players hardly ever redshirt. It's hard to quantify "hardly ever", but it is not an uncommon occurrence. It's certainly not as common as Football, but it is not out of the ordinary and when it does happen the ratio is heavily skewed towards frontcourt players (Travis Nelson would be another example at Wyoming). The reasons are easy to understand. Coaches take risks on big men that might not be fully developed. They won't take the same risks on a 6' guard so rarely a reason to redshirt the little guys.

That doesn't mean Shyatt will do it, because he has yet to really do so at UW (sort of for Sellers), but what I posted hardly warrants the attacks that you posted in response.

Pokes started Sept 27. When I said , on Oct 13, Grabau, Adams, Sobey, Cooke, Nance are starters, it would have been more accurate to add IF THE SEASON STARTED TOMORROW. Some could be displaced by Hankerson and Granberry by Oct 31 if one or two of the named five don't produce. Wait till Oct 31 to find out. I'm as anxious as you all are.

NewherePoke, I didn't call you a liar at all. My point was major d1 hoops they hardly ever redshirt. I didn't clarify that, but that is indeed what I meant.

That post wasn't for you. It was for whomever posted it on Gowyogo. It was the starting five of the scrimmage.

most teams have their starting 5 in mind before practice even starts... Stuff could change but they have a pretty good idea, they have been watching the guys play all summer

Yeah, they have an idea. It's short sighted to say those are going to be the starters without letting the players prove it in practice over the next month. I don't think our staff is doing that.

It really doesn't matter who starts anyways. That will change from night to night, depending on match-ups, practice performance, game performance, behavior.....

Fans get too caught up in who's starting and like to start controversy over things that don't make that much difference. Who cares who starts when the fifth starter is getting the same minutes in the rotation as the first bench guy?

This!

The difference between the 5th starter and the 1st bench guy matters a lot if they aren't the same position.
You aren't just going to rotate Grabau and Sellers in and out for eachother....
But if it's Grabau and Adams, then it doesn't matter.

Which is another exercise in futility, because Granberry, Hankerson, and Sobey will all play the same positions: SG/SF.
