What do you guys see?

Nebraska fans are truly the biggest douche bags of fans I have ever encountered. You even make San Diego State basketball fans look good. And that is fucking hard! You guys are so full of yourselves it is amazing. I mean good God you guys are entitled self loving douche bags. I get it though, you live in Nebraska, and college football is all you have so if someone doesn't kiss your ass and tell you it's the greatest thing ever, you take it as a personal insult because you are reminded of the shit-hole you live in.

And to whoever said Smith wasn't good against, Boise, he still ended up rushing multiple TDs in the red-zone.

Get over yourselves and the mighty we are in the big10 we rule everything. Yes generally you will have better athletes and players than Wyo but it isn't always the case. Brett Smith is proof. You think that you guys are better than every non-BCS school ever? Why is it that Capernick from Nevada, Alex Smith from Utah and Rothlesberger from Miami-Ohio all made it to the NFL as starters yet Nebraska isn't producing NFL QB's?

I'll put many, many Wyoming beers up against anything from Colorado any day. Our whiskey kicks azz too.

While Nebraska is home to many Fortune 500 companies, Wyoming is home to the people who own/ run them.

"Nebraska- like no place you'd rather be!"

So, because I don't think Wyoming has much of a chance to beat NU this Saturday all you can do is bash on the state itself?

Oh so funny.

In regards to the beer comment, very, very doubtful.

There may be some good beer in Wyoming(Which I would actually love to seek out and try), but there is GREAT beer in Colorado. The beer scene is nothing in Wyoming like it is in Colorado, and neither is Nebraskas. From what I can find, there are 19 breweries in the state of Wyoming. There are over 20 breweries in the Denver area alone.

Do I doubt that there may be great beer in Wyoming? No, but don't compare it to the Colorado/California/Oregon/Washington beer scene.

I don't...

wait.

this has really turned into Wyoming residents talking smack to Nebraska residents that our state doesn't have much to do and theirs does?
If you're bored in Wyoming, it's either because you chose to be or because everyone else is bored by you.

If you're bored in any part of the world anywhere it's because of one of those two reasons... high school kids in a school of 3,000 complain about never having anything to do just as much as kids with a graduating class of 12.

Well, I guess the point is, if I was living someplace as pointless as Nebraska, I'd find something to cling to as well. That being said, I have far more respect for those that choose football over religion. Or even football as religion. ;)

As someone who gets paid for his opinion on adult beverages, if there's one thing I've learned in twenty-five years in the business, it's not quantity, it's quality. Ounce for ounce, the beers coming out of Wyoming are as good as anything out of Colorado. I compare it to Washington wine vs. California wine- Cali produces millions of gallons more than Washington, but ounce for ounce, Washington's put more wines in the WS Top 100 than any region in the world. Speaking of which, we've also got a local wine label that beats the cork out of anything bottled in Colorado. Now, one thing Colorado is doing better is Absinthe. Leopold Bros are putting out some serious worm...

Remember, up until the late 90's there were far more breweries in Milwaukee than there were in the whole state of Colorado. No one's really talking about Milwaukee beer these days...

"Nebraska, it's on your way to someplace else!"

Hey Beaver, don't take them so personal, we know we arent' spozed to win, but if the miracle happens so be it, don't let them get to you, and don't start a thread that'll be fuel for their fire...now that we've got who they are and what they are all about it's time to just chat with them and have fun with it.

At this point, the more of this :fuel: that happens, the more it will really suck on this message board if the expected result occurs.

Ah, Beaver. He reminds me of Lenny from Of Mice and Men "I didn't mean to, George, I was just petting it..." "You pet it too hard, Lenny."

He's the kid that hits the pinata at the birthday party, then proceeds to swing blindly at everyone in staggering distance...

Like I pointed out before- they may win the game, but they'll still be Nebraskans. Into every life, however hopeless, a ray of sun must fall. In the dreary place that is Nebraska that single ray falls on Devaney Stadium.

Quality over quantity without a doubt. I'm a homebrewer myself and a beer geek so I try and seek out great beer whenever I can..I mean hell, my bachelor party was spent in Denver and Fort Collins touring breweries and brew pubs. If we can set aside or football differences, I wouldn't mind setting up a beer trade. Local stuff for local stuff?

Side note, I'll take football over religion anyday.

Uh, back to the OP, his point number one is the issue for Wyoming. Our run defense is a dumpster fire, full stop. It's been trending in the wrong direction under Christensen. My hope does not spring eternal on this question any more. I hope to be pleasantly surprised this season, but I will continue to believe that our run D is ass until proven otherwise. I don't care how good our offense is, we simply can't beat Nebraska based on the evidence currently available. I would put money on Nebraska running for over 300 yards in this game and winning comfortably.

I'm normally the most optimistic of Poke fans but I really have no reason to think we're any better in this area this season than last.

Pardon my friend BeavPoke. Sometimes he gets hopped up on guarana and starts to sound like Gary Busey.

Just kidding BP.

But honestly, for your unwavering optimism, if the Pokes win I will buy you dinner.

Just don't push it too far or you'll start to sound like Greg Wrubell.

I was talking to a guy from Nebraska a while back and he told me his dog ran off and he could still see him 2 days later. Then his wife ran off and he could still see her 3 days later.

I don't see Nebraska as elite in any respect. Wyoming was able to burn an "elite" secondary at Texas for some big gainers. Martinez might possibly be the worst QB Ive ever seen play at a big school. I'm sure Nebraska will stay away from his worst attributes, being a QB. Don't go all Martinez lover on me either. I know Nebraska fans and they hate his guts. It's really sad that Nebraska can't field a better overall QB. You do not have 1 Herron on your team because your QB makes Tim Tebow look like Peyton Manning.

This game is about Nebraska running the ball. Wyoming will not stop it enough and will likely lose. I think Wyoming can score 17-24 pts. Likely after game is pretty much over. It will be the same as the other big games. Wyoming will be within 10 at halftime and get wore down in second half.

Like I told someone else (re: first bold) - if that's what you see, the problem is in your eyes, not in his play. The actual coaches that gameplan against him voted him the best quarterback in the conference, so there's at least 11 other schools with worse quarterbacks for you ;)

re: second bold, that's not unique to Taylor and doesn't say anything about him specifically - we are a fickle bunch, and can find reason to be cruel to any of our players. Even still, I think the fans you spoke to were either a few years removed from present-tense, being represented hyperbolically by you or not representative of the fanbase overall. He's been a lightning rod for a long time - but he's won a lot of people over with his toughness and dedication to this program.
