What about going deeper into Texas with conference expansion

You would have to like the Houston market and their solid football program. What about a couple more Texas teams.

I could see us at twelve with Utep and Houston.

What about USU as a basketball only and SMU in the East for a 14 team league...

I like it. If Comcast is willing to put some money in the mix and I think they will be, we might be able to support 14 teams.

It would be an extremely competitive basketball league with Utep, New Mexico, SDSU, UNLV, Nevada, and Utah State. Those are consistently competitive basketball teams.

On the football side you would have Boise, SDSU, AFA, Houston, Nevada...

An interesting theory, but USU would have to be a full member. Seattle U could be a basketball member though.

What about contracts? Did CUSA sign a new contract with ESPN? A lot of teams don't like the MWC tv deal.
Unless the MWC gets an AQ then I think the Texas teams can say that they don't need you because they have their own. I think the Texas teams have much more interest in staying South and East. And I know there's more.

Well, as far as all this expansion talk goes, someone from the Big East just posted on ponyfans.com that there is interests from BE fans about bringing SMOO into the Big East and is asking if any fans have heard any talk about it ETC.
Of course, I know it's not up to the fans. But I'm about to go out and train for a few hours so I won't be able to keep up with what is said until later.
I always thought that the BE would want UCF first. And I know I've heard about Houston being talked about by fans at least.
