were do we land on espn's bottom ten this week?

Or maybe he will evaluate what kind of defensive coordinator he needs.

It used to be that when you were in a game and you needed to "bend"
things or "tune" it, you were told to "put some English on the ball".

Not this time, DC.

It isn't the DC, unless you are referring to HCDC. He calls all the shots. ALL of them. VERY different that Glenn, who let his assistants call all the shots. You honestly think English wanted to switch from the 3-4 to the 4-3? Nope.

No, actually I got to talk with English in R.S before I moved, he was wanting to do the switch to 4-3. He said it would help bring speed to the front, so we could pressure the QB. Maybe that's why he doesn't blitz, because he thinks he'll get pressure with two DE's...But he told me he was more comfortable running a 4-3 than 3-4.

Decent dline, but still not finishing anywhere near the top of the conference for defense or sacks. Again, Airfoce has a good D every year with smaller lineman than ours (better oline for that matter) why is there such a difference? I am not an expert but I would say its coaching, Airforce is not getting higher quality recruits than we are but they have become a consistently decent program. Maybe we could hire someone from their defensive staff ( I doubt they even pay as much as we do, but again I am not sure).

 That Marty is quite the politician. Wonder who he learned that from (GLENN).

Anytime you move two of your best LB's to DL's because you have no one to play DE means you are in for a long year.

Agree 100%. Should have left those guys as LB's (with Schoeber & Hendricks along side...can you imagine)...and just played whatever 3 were available to play. It wouldn't matter...

Hindsight being twenty twenty we might have been better off with some combo of the 3-4. Doesn't change the fact that we weren't exactly racking up sacks and getting to the qb last year. Doesn't change the fact we were that great at d last year. I understand what the coaches are trying to do with putting speed on the field ( Muhamad could play safety he is that fast & and Devyn Harris/keith lewis probably could as well). Knapton and Biezuns are quality players but they both struggled staying on te/rb/wr last year in pass coverage. All being said I don't know the answer but the 4-3 is better at defending the pass on a consistent basis compared with the 3-4 (I would like to run the 3-4 if Breske was running it because he would run creative blitzes & I think we would be ok if Marty would blitz someone other than our front four).

unless BJ Sumter can play NT and we didnt redshirt him, we would have no one to play the NT position in the 3-4 and prolly would have been worse. if we still had stover and felker, then maybe we could of infused the 3-4. or even played a better 4-3 up front, cause the nt needs to take up blockers, more than 1 lol. and all you needed this year to block our dline is 1 on 1
