Well, Wyoming is full at the defensive end spot...

Shaheed Salmon tweeted that his offer was pulled because the defensive end spot is already filled up.

If that's the case I would assume the other positions that are full(or close to it):

1. QB
2. DT
3. TE(still might use more but I would expect big receivers like Maulhart to convert to TE)
4. OL
5. HB(might see another one if Brian Hill is coming in as a a safety)
6. Linebacker(havent signed many but converting from 3-4 to 4-3 means we don't need as many)

I expect the last few scholarships we get will mostly be in the following positions:

1. FB
2. CB
3. Safety

I'm not sure about the WR position. Our team currently has a lot of wide receivers since we're moving from the spread to the west coast. We might add wr's for class balance, but I'm guessing the last scholarships will go to FB, CB, and Safety's.

Do you think they will hold on to a scholarship or two for any walk-ons that are deemed worthy?

I don't know. You would think if anyone knows the value of a strong walk-on program it would be a Tom Osborne disciple. I don't know if you have to hold on to those though. Maybe you just fill all your scholarships and wait for the inevitable attrition to free up a scholarship.

I read somewhere they wanted 3 or 4 LB's in this class and we only have 1 committed so far so I don't think we are full for that position yet. Anyone know who we have visiting this weekend?

Yeah, I wasn't sure on the linebacker spot. I knew we only had one, but it seems like switching from 3-4 to 4-3 will eliminate the need for as many linebackers. You're right though. We will probably see a linebacker or two in the last few scholarships.

We're pretty deep at linebacker. I don't think that it will be as big an emphasis this year just because of the returning talent. Current LB's on the roster are:

Alex Borgs - SR
Mark Nzeocha - SR
Nehemie Kankolongo - SR
Jordan Stanton - SR
Devyn Harris - SR
Malkaam Muhammad - JR
Jeff Lark - JR
Johnathon Klug - JR
Siosi Hala'api'api - JR
Devin McKenna - JR
Brandon Luckenbill - SO
Lucas Wacha - SO

Looking at that list, though, linebacker is probably going to be a huge point of emphasis with next year's class. 5 seniors, 5 juniors, and only 2 sophomores.

Which might be why you want to get three or four in here this year: that way you don't have a huge hole in the lineup two years from now.

There's also a few players on that list that could be fullbacks. I don't recall Klug, McKenna, or Luckenbill seeing any time this past season. Maybe a move to offense will give them their shot?

I was wondering the same thing. Might be hard to find a hs FB that could come in right away and contribute.

Yeah, that wouldn't shock me. Some of the more obvious roster moves would be some of those extra linebackers to fullback and some of the bigger wide receivers to tight end.

I wouldn't be surprised if the loser of the qb battle between Fort and Smith ends up at tight end.

Spring ball should be interesting this year to say the least.

I have heard that they are already talking to players about changing sides of the ball. I have heard that the kid from Washington that was red shirted,I think his name is Lukenbill, will be switched to FB.

I already posted this under the "what do we need now" but ...News on a FB, my son Brandon Lukenbill was asked to switch from ILB to FB. He played ILB, FB, Slot Receiver also did punt and kick return in high school so he is familiar with the position. During the Christmas break Brandon put on a few lbs and went back at 235lb, which is good size for a FB :D

Sounds good to me! FB is basically the LB of the offense. His job will be to hit people!

He is all about putting players on their asses...but he also has good speed and hands 33 for 36 for 350 yards in his last 3 high school games...122 tackles for the season.

What about Kongo at FB? That might be something they think about. Former RB and LB I also loved that nasty ass hit he put on the AF return man.
