Well....What did you expect?

Texas is bigger, faster, and well, just better than us. But, I thought we were better on offense than last year. ACS is really good. He's running for his life and still making plays. Our receivers are better this year. We have some playmakers. The O line is really a concern. ACS won't make through the season if they don't start to protect him.

Defense was pretty good, overall. They were trying to rub our noses in it and we didn't let them. Secondary play was damn good except for a couple of plays.

I think we can give Boise a hellavu game next week. I hope it's a sellout.

Overall, I think Cowboys can hold their heads up high. Sure they made a lot of mistakes, but they also never turned the ball over (unless you count going for it on fourth down).

Only thing I don't like with the Boise situation is that they've had two weeks to prepare for us. Kind of like BYU last season...

Defense was a lot better this game. I just wished that English would blitz them from time to time.

But di Mack Brown REALLY need to air it on that last drive? The game was already in hand. He just lost respect from me with that.

I had no problems with their TD. It was the second string for the most part (gilbert still in) and just like us, Texas wants to get them game experience other than 3 handoffs up the middle.

Mack Brown is probably one of the classiest coaches in college football IMO.

Just read on the MWC board that Texas kept their 1st stringers on the field.

And the game was well in hand, there was NO reason to air it out.

Texas did what they needed to do. I have no problem with them leaving their starters in, nor do I have a problem with them scoring at the end. This isn't tiddlywinks, this is football. The defense still has to stop the offense no matter what the score is and how much time is left. The game is never in hand until it's zeros on the time clock. In the end, defense still has to stop the offense. :twocents:

I know that. I just see a class act as someone who calls off the dogs when the game is in hand, not running up the score.

Except that if Texas wants to go to the National Championship game, they will likely be compared to Boise State and/or TCU, and since they all share us as a common opponent and the Sagarin (which is part of the computer rankings) take that into account, they pretty much HAD to make sure they won by at least 3 TDs. If they hadn't aired it out and Wyoming had scored on a fluke play in the end to finish the game at 27-14, it could REALLY have hurt Texas come December/January.

DC would have done the exact same thing if the roles had been reversed, and we would have been livid if he hadn't.

Maybe you would have been if the roles had been reversed and he had not ran up the score, but I would have been fine with running the football until the clock hit 00:00

...and you would have been fine if at the end of the season you were ranked #3 instead of #2 and didn't get to play in the National Championship because of it?

It's a very possible scenario, too - especially considering how impressive TCU's been so far.

If that is what happens, fine. I would rather win with class than to repeatedly kick the losing team in the balls, so to speak.

The Pokes played well and Texas was sloppy. All those penalties and Gilbert just failed to execute at times. I'd like to think that the Cowboys had something to do with UT's sloppy, unfocused play. The Longhorn defense came after AC-S with a vengence. Our execution on offense was inspiring.

Texas will lose two or three games this season.

I think this is the sad thing about CFB. Scoring X amount of points to keep your credibility. I still don't follow the whole B beat A and C beat B, so C is the best team without playing A. I guess its a compromise since you can't schedule 60 teams and then do a playoff system to find out who truly is the best.

Even using win/loss criteria would probably be complicated since the scheduling between conferences is so random. I'm starting to think the only reason conferences exist anymore is because of the way the bowl system works. Originally, it probably was probably for scheduling teams regularly that were close.

Here's one that confuses me, and maybe someone can provide some insight into.

Wyoming loses to BYU 52-0
Wyoming beats New Mexico 37-13
BYU beats new Mexico 24-19

How would the BCS rank such a scenario? How would it change if New Mexico would have beat BYU 27-24?
