Welcome to Ohio University

Well, looks like both our teams are coming off losses this week. The Ohio Bobcats were tied at Virginia Tech 7-7 well into the 3rd quarter before the Hokies started to take advantage of a stagnate Bobcats offense, and Ohio lost 28-7.

Are any of you making the trip to beautiful Athens, OH this week? If so, I hope you have safe travels and a fun time. Let us Bobcat fans on this board know if you have any questions about things to do, places to stay, or where to eat while you're in Southeastern Ohio.

I'm looking forward to going to Saturday's game. I think it will be a good test to see just how the Bobcats stack up this season. After the game against the Cowboys, Ohio has a tough conference game at home against Kent St. The Bobcats and the Flashes were the two teams I saw picked in various pre-season mags to win the Mac-East title, so Ohio has two important games in a row at Peden Stadium.

GO BOBCATS!!!!

The weather in this part of Ohio has been fantastic.......70 highs during the day and 50's at night.....sounds like Wyoming weather huh. Let's hope it holds for the weekend.

Let me be your personal Welcome Wagon for Saturday. Stay at the tailgate locations at Tail-great Park accross from the stadium or at the Convo. Tail-great is ten dollars to park and has the Ohio alum group and university activities. I visit both, but end up many times at the $5 parking behind our basketballl arena called The Convo. Many of you Cowboy RVers will be there and the Doc will invite you over for some chili and a beverage...adult if you chose.

If you arrive early head up town and endulge in the fun of Court Street. The docster will be at The Pub for the best mushroom burger on the planet and a beverage called The Aquarium....bigger than a fishbowl.

We plan to make your visit hospitable (except for the score haha) and I hope for the same in my visit to Laramie next year.

Two great teams who had tough losses this Saturday against two of the best programs in the nation. Me thinks it might be a good game. Most reports have each team playing better than last year. Whichever team wins will have on this year's resume a victory that will help them get to post season play.

I guess it depends on your definition of good. At Ohio State to the north they've enacted rules that discourage tailgating. My experience here has been that tailgating pretty much aligns itself with common sense. If you keep the decibels below hearing damage and you drink out of cups you should be fine. Beer bonging and a keg in the back of your truck may draw attention....but it would at most places.

The band comes through the tailgate area. Many times we have kid friendly areas with games and activities. Cornhole games are rampant. Lots of good music and food in the area. The best part is that it's a short walk across the street to the stadium.

Kalvin McRae is quite the RB. If UW can contain him we can control the . But McRae is no pushover, it will be tough. But none the less we kept Ian Johnson in check.

That reminds me. How did we do against Ian Johnson yesterday?

He had about 80'ish yards.

Damn if only our offense wasn't so offensive in a bad way.....we could've won!

Cockhill seemed much improved in the first two games, but the Boise St. game reminded me a lot of last season. Play not to lose, and very soft on offense. Boise is a very good team, but to me it just boils down to playing on the road. Our defense steps into hostile enviornments and plays 90% of their home performance, while the offense drops well below 50%. They are easily flustered, and our o-line seems to just shy away from contact. Sween is still 10-15 games away from being able to step into the really tough situations and stay fearless. But he will get there, you can just feel it. When teams like TCU and BYU come to Laramie, the make up of this team will pay dividends. I just dont see anyone putting up huge numbers against this D in Laramie, and I think the War may be the only place this offense will really get it going this season.
