Actually that is what NDSU has been doing. Obviously they aren't FBS but they have won 4 straight national championships with all Bohl recruits the first 3 years and some of his recruits last year.
On that level, absolutely. They continue to bulldoze their competition. It's not MW-like by any means, but they dominate.

Ball State by 5
Central Michigan by 30
Kansas by 3
Minnesota by 4, 13
Lost to Wyoming by 3
Colorado State by 15
Kansas State by 3

Lost to Iowa State by 17, but then beat them by 20 last fall.

That's a fantastic list of FBS wins for an FCS program, but it's not a list of world beaters by any means. None of those teams were even close to Top 25-caliber when NDSU beat them.

Not trying to demean that success, it is solid....I just  at the Bison fans who think that's evidence that they would have no problem competing in the MWC. Narrowly losing to Joe Glenn's worst team ever? Knocking off Kansas by 3? Again, good job...but not evidence that they'd be Boise State if they moved up tomorrow. Wyoming is the better program IMO.

I'm not one to back the Fargo school, but those were good wins, not world beaters, but solid wins.

However, one of them was freakin impressive. That was the win over a bowl bound Kansas State team. Their offensive and defensive lines dominated that game. It was a great game and an impressive win.

As the team gets better, the quality of recruits will get better. Things don't change overnight.

Brian Hill was one of those seen as a NDSU-level recruit. Would you rather we didn't sign him?

Yes Brian Hill and many others.
Wyoming is NDSU face reality & last 3 years NDSU finishes top 2 in MWC with the talent bohl brought there. This is a great problem for you guys

LOL no. Just ask Bohl, you wait until you play a random game on Oahu in October. NDSU would be losing to all sorts of awful teams. If NDSU struggles with the likes of Western Illinois in conference, you can bet the MW would give them lots of trouble if the Bison played an 8-game conference slate.

Not to get bogged down in hypotheticals, but there should be no doubt that in the past 3 years, NDSU would definitely be upper tier of MW. Whether or not they can sustain that level, is a big question for them. They are the most dominant team in the history of FCS, and Bohl was primarily responsible for it. They are still living off of Bohl's last recruiting classes. Regarding Western Illinois, they had some up and down games, but managed to win all those games (minus one). We do have a common reference point last year - Montana. 2014 NDSU gets the nod with that comparison. And there is a common reference point this year with UND - I think that will show the progression that Bohl is making.

For all you that like stars....247sports has now listed 3 of Wyoming's 5 commits as 3 star guys. Two are listed as top 10 players in Nebraska.

Good to know. Winners have talent.

:o Holy delusional Batman. NDSU would have been at most 5th and most likely somewhere around 6th.

For hell's sake, during that span, you lost to Indiana State and Northern Iowa. You struggled against the likes of Wofford, Northern Iowa, W Illinois, and South Dakota State. The year you embarrassed the sheep, a bad WYO team hung 45 on them. Other than the very bottom of the barrel, almost every other MWC team hung 30+ on 'em.

NDSU had an amazing FCS run. Your 2013 squad maybe would have been as high as 4th. The rest would be 6th or worse.

Bingo. Like any team, NDSU has its struggles in conference (MVC) play that all teams face. NDSU would be shooting for BSU and USU, only to realize that nobody in this conference is a cakewalk. NDSU got hammered by a UNI team that lost to Hawaii! The MW isn't the SEC by any means, but it would feel like it to an FCS program moving up.

NDSU's best stretch would be better than our worst? Yeah, so what? That is NDSU's ceiling and likely down hill from there.

Congrats. NDSU is FCS champs and message board driven theoretical 4th place at best champs of a dilapidated MWC. Wow!

What does it say about NDSU that they can win it all 3 straight times, captivate the nation enough to get College GameDay twice, but still loses its coach to a school that hasn't won since the 90s? lol

Give me a break...Boise State's special teams coach makes more money annually than NDSU's head coach does. It's a different ball game at this level. NDSU would be in for a humbling if they moved up.
