+1 It's fucking embarrassing to say I root for Wyoming to my friends here in Oklahoma
If I can't brag about WYOMING to my Oklahoma friends, I get really PISSED OFF! :tickedoff:

It doesn't matter what the defense does if the offense scores more points, look at Fresno who has a worse d than us by far. We will be right there for the MWC crown this season, and next season we very well could be the favorite for it with everyone we bring back, the schedule, and the people the rest of the conference is losing.
Wyovianian,
When is the last time you made a game in person? Last time you made 2 games in person? When is the last time you coached a game? What the fuck makes you such an expert. You talk about accepting being mediocre, right? Why don't you make an attempt to elevate your knowledge and fan support to become mediocre, cause your not even close to being a mediocre fan. I think most on here would categorize you and a couple other's who bitch and moan on here to be crap fans.
Prior to that- last season's SDSU, UNLV, Nevada, and UNM games. Shall I go on?
I have season tix at both the War and the AA and there's always butts in those seats, whether I use them or not.
I'll be at the CSU game next week, and the Boise State, Fresno State, and Utah State games later this season, as well as at whatever bowl game we might go to.
I live hundreds of miles from Laramie yet I still made it to four home basketball games and four on the road, the MWC Tournament, and this year's CJC Auction.
I'm sixth generation Wyoming native, lived in Laramie until I was twenty-one, and second generation CJC.
I'm as loyal as anyone to UW, I walk what I talk, and I put my money where my mouth is. I guess I just expect too much, we are, after all, only Wyoming...

DC 13-cupcakes are Idaho, U of No Colo, and TxState (lost to them0. Only one challenge game-Nebraska
Upward trend? No. We are routinely degrading our expectations. The teams we scheduled as cucakes under Glenn are owning us-and we havent one signature win under DC-we had 5 under Glenn(Virginia, Miss, UCLA, Tenn)-AND our schedule no longer inclues Utah, BYU, or TCU..
I dont think punking U of NColo or Southern Utah to make the last cut to get trounced in the toilet bowl is progress. This program is clearly regressing. We need to start beating Fresno, Utah State and Boise all the time-like we used to. They USED to be our cupcake games

You make some fair points, and I let some emotions surface on here last night, so I apologize for the language last night. I am just a little frustrated with some of the fans on this board, and Wyoming fans in general and the lack of seeing progress when it is right there in front of our faces. Sure he hasn't gotten his signature win yet, but he will maybe even this year against Fresno or Boise. If you look at where this program is at compared to in the past it is much better, sure he has made his mistakes, but he is learning on the job he had never been a head coach before coming here. We haven't lost to our main rival since he has been here, how many programs can say that? We have better off the field stuff then most programs ever will, and we have the best academics in our history for a football team. We have already had two winning seasons, and look to be on the way to a third. We have much better athletes than when he came here as well as a potential first or second round QB if he stays for next year. We have a great chance at competing for a MWC title this season in a down Mountain West, and very well could be the favorites next year. It takes a lot of time to build a program especially one in Laramie Wyoming where it is very hard to recruit and we honestly don't have that great of a winning tradition. Outside of Wyoming most people look down on this program, so that makes it hard to recruit as well. We will win around 8-9 games this season, be right there for a conference title, and bring everyone on this team back next year for an even more favorable conference slate. I see progress in this program and firing a coach every year, when we actually have a pretty good one, is a way to get ourselves to be like CU where they can't beat anybody and keep getting new coach every two years and never let them progress toward building a program. DC is taking us in the right direction, it may not be as fast as some would like, but I sure as hell don't want to start over and will enjoy winning two thirds of our games.WyoAlum1987 said:Whoa there Yank,
Doesn't the old alma mater teach rhetoric, or require competence in communication anymore? Now, you make some good points, but they are completely buried in the vitriol and coarseness of your post.
I would agree with you that Wyoming IS much better when they have the ball than they have been in a long, long time. We are not yet bowl eligible, and the teams we have beaten to date won't provide much of a resume.
Our record shows that we are currently better than Northern (worst team in FBS), Idaho (worst team in DivI-A), USAFA (worst team in the conference), and New Mexico-The combined WL of these opponents is 5-25 for the season. They all lost last week, as did Texas State-(the worst team in the Sun Belt conference)-who, as you may recall, smoked us .
New Mexico is not the worst of anything..(but you can see if from there)...it has two wins-one against a winless school (NMSU)-the other against a school that has lost every game except to NMSU (UTEP).
As you note, we've beaten CSU for the past 4 years-and their record has been 13-35 over that period. They have won two games this season and looked horrible last week. That should help us stay on top of the confernce standings another week, and continue to justify the poor behavior of those who are driving the bandwagon over some of the rest of us...
I am a diehard Poke fan, but I aint a DC fan yet-and unless we beat Boise this year, I can't see myself changing my opinion.
DCs best season and only bowl win came the year after Glenn left with Glenn's players. Since then he has lost to Temple, San Luis Obispo, and Texas .
IF we go to a bowl game-I would say that this season is shaping up like 2011-where we scheduled (and beat) Weber, Bowling Green and Texas State in their first year of D-I-won out against the fading teams in the conference, and went to a bowl game and got exposed and embarrassed by.....the Temple Owls.
That said, I think that CSU, Hawaii, Utah and SJSU look winnable. We could finish with 8 wins barring injury. But even with 8 wins, I would make a point that I not convinced that this team is making the next step. If all those 8 programs are among the worst in the NCAA, and we get smoked by the cellar dwellars in other conferences it doesnt say all that much. We are still mediocre..and even though we schedule enough creampuffs to have a winning season-its kinda like puffing your chest out for getting the prettiest whore to take your money....you aint really all that great
WyoAlum1987 said:can we agree that they were better than Texas State?
Texas State, Cal-Poly-SLO, Toledo, Utah State, UNLV, Temple, and zero wins against ranked teams. Zero.kansasCowboy said:WyoAlum1987 said:can we agree that they were better than Texas State?
For crying out loud!!! You are stuck on one freaking game in DCs career. Did I prove my point or not? And if not why?
WyoBrandX said:I'm pretty happy with where we are at today. Wins are wins. Our offense is putting up some nice numbers this year. I like the switch to 3-4 defense. We seem to get a heck of alot more stops in the backfield than we did with last years 'multiple', or the 4-3 the years before.
They are not going to fix the defense this season, but at least it feels more like a bend-not-break defensive effort vs the last few years of 'the defense is just going through the motions and giving up 10 yards / play.'
This offseason, they need to go find some additional depth on the d-line from junior colleges to take care of the immediate problems. Redshirt some freshman from HS.
If we can keep putting up the stats on offense that we are, and we can build a defense that can put up quite a few 3 and outs, this team will be unstoppable.
I think Dave Christensen might break the top 5 in points scored in a season (Wyoming History) at the end of this year:
