WE WON THE GAME

I guess most of you missed it, but just in case WE WON THE GAME. Some people on this board need to actually face reality and see that we beat a decent team in a conference game, and are only 2 wins away from a bowl game. Some people on this board are pathetic and need to grow up.

Glad the team won....but eh....decent team? Guess that's a matter of opinion. Decent teams don't cough up 56 to UNLV at home and lose to UTSA at home. They have a good running game....I'll give them that. Wyoming will face better-to-way better teams going forward.

A win is a win though. Beat CSU, and a bowl game is right there for the taking.

I think some people are being a little hard on the defense, Did they really not perform at the level we think they should have?

New Mexico is averaging 367.8 RYPG, Wyoming is giving up over 250 RYPG, So we held the #1 team in the country to 257 yards on the ground. It's not like it's snowing in Laramie, and the shitty field conditions held them to low yards. To me that means we actually played a better rush defense then all of you think or UNM had a shitty ground game which I just don't believe.

I think we missed some easy tackles that made us look like clowns but I think this defense did a better job than the rest of you.

That is right we did win!

If we had the same offense and defense we wouldn't be in Wyoming or in the MWC.

I didn't say their running game is shitty. Karrier is very good, they do a solid job. But noting that they are #1 in rushing is a little disingenuous. Their SOS is ranked 156th in the Sargain ratings.....outside of PITT, they've played borderline FCS programs the entire time. So yeah they've been good, but that #1 ranking does not literally mean they have the top running game in college football.

Air Force happens to be ranked in the Top 3 in rushing too. Decent team? I think not.

Although I'll say, glad UW doesn't ever have to face Karrier again. Locksley did manage to recruit one player who turned out well from his pathetic era.

We lost to Texas State...Not UTSA. :tickedoff:

I'm more concerned with how our offense sputtered for a while. I'm happy that we won, but man, we better not let teams back like that or I'm going to have a heart attack.

That is exactly what it means, It means that they are the #1 rushing Team in the Nation based on rushing yards per game. It doesn't mean they are the #1 team of course not. But what your saying is basically like saying Brett Smith isn't the #3 in the Nation in total yards.

So New Mexico's running > Oregon's running game??? Damn....If that's the case, Wyoming had a really solid day on defense.

We won, but if Davies had been paying attention to the time on the clock, it may not have ended up with us getting the "W".

Still, I'll a take a win anyday.

Do you not understand statistics? You usually like to argue I get that, Give it a rest. Statistically New Mexico gains more yards on the ground per game than Oregon does plain and simple.

The problem is that many fans, myself included to be honest, started to dream big after the AFA game. We were thinking conference titles and Top 25 finishes.

In reality, our program is hardly in a position to look down at our noses at an opportunity for 6-7 wins and a bowl appearance. Still, it's been a little bit of a downer to be brought back to earth.

CSU's defense is just as bad as UNM's (and ours), so Brett and company will have an opportunity to win a shootout next week. Our biggest potential issue is special teams. We need to kick every kick off out of the end zone for a touchback and pretty much avoid even fielding punts as nothing positive will result.

I don't expect many punts from either side next week though.

I remember our 10-2 96 team in shootouts with lesser quality opponents than we've had this year. We're putting up offensive numbers equal to or better than the 96 team. Our D is probably equal to the 96 team. And what is said is I don't remember near the complaining then about D than I hear now. I don't remember ever being 4-2;2-0 and hearing people talk about making coaching changes either. That to me is sad. And I definitely don't appreciate someone in the media (cough-Dino-cough) leading the charge.

It's also about match ups. Our shitty run D versus they're awesome run O. Our D held them wayyy under their average despite some big plays. Held carrier to 4 yds per carry. I have plenty of concerns but we beat a decent team coming off a confidence building win and they were a very bad matchup for us.

Totally agree, we beat a team whose strength is running the ball and our weakness is stopping the run. I think we did a decent job considering. We do have a bad tendency of grabbing the ball carrier instead of hitting and rapping up. We have to work on the lulls in or offensive game though. I didnt like the play calling when we had the ball on the one yard line after Normans catch. Why not just feed Wick the ball? A sack and two incomplete passes led to a field goal instead of an easy touch down. I think CDC tries to hard to get brett his passing numbers instead of doing whats best for the team. That could've come back to haunt us. Luckily it didnt.

And gave up yardage to a pathetic group,

Your hopes are low...

You are an absolutely pathetic fan. Are you even a Wyoming fan? We won the game get over yourself and grow the fuck up. Did we play the best game, no but we won so who cares. A win is a win, and conference wins are very hard to come by, hell look at Stanford getting beat by Utah. You are one reason why this fan base looks so pathetic, we are 4-2 two wins away from a bowl game with a team that won four games all of last year, and we are undefeated in conference play. People like you are pathetic, be happy that we won the game, be realistic and see that we aren't Oregon, we are Wyoming, and I will take being 4-2 and 2-0 in conference any day. It is like Wyo2Dal said, you would probably be pissed about winning a lottery if it wasn't with your favorite number.

Win we did.

A win in what I considered to be a lackluster effort that would have cost us against a better team.

Essentially we struggled to beat one of the worst teams in the MWC - AT HOME - AND blew a 21-0 lead.

The fact that any team can go bowling with only 6 wins is a disgrace...then again mediocrity is now championed in America.

Lastly, 6 wins and bowl game might satisfy some, but for myself it does not.

I want more than 6 wins - I want 8-9 wins and I want to be in contention for a MWC Championship EVERY year.

Am I desiring something too unrealistic?

Oh yeah, I want a defense that can control the line of scrimmage more often than not and wrap up and tackle a ball carrier more than once in every ten tries.
